This is a wonderful practice. I've seen Dr. Bryan Delmore and Dr. Rengert and they are both phenomenal. I've been seeing Dr. Bryan for the past few years and he is fantastic. He takes the time to really explain things thoroughly which you don't find very often anymore. During my last visit I mentioned one of my children had been diagnosed with a genetic condition related to his eyes and he gave me a great referral to OSU and put my mind at ease. I really can't say enough good things about him. I love the frame selection and always end up with the cutest frames and get tons of compliments. I can't remember his name, but there is a gentlemen optician there and he picks awesome frames that suit me to a "T".
Amazing sushi. So good, my husband is still talking about it months later. The tuna is melt in your mouth delicious. The service is super fast but the atmosphere is not great. It is worth the dull atmosphere for the great sushi.
We visited Lappert's a few times on our trip as it seemed to be one of the few places to get ice cream on the island. The Kauai Pie is fantastic as is the coconut ice cream. It's a little pricy, but it's worth it if you need an ice cream fix.
Two of the best meals we had on the island were at Mermaids. The tuna wrap is amazing. Amazing!! This is a great place to stop for a bite if you are sandy from the beach and just want a casual meal. We ate here twice on the second time we took our food to go and went to the lookout a little ways up the road and ate while we watched a storm come in from the comfort and safety of our car. It was fantastic.
We did this kayak tour in mid December '11 on our honeymoon. Kahi was our guide and he was FANTASTIC. He is born and raised in Kauai and knew everything there was to know about the local flora and fauna. He made the hike so interesting when it could have been very dull. Be sure to wear your swimsuit under your kayaking clothes as there is nowhere to change and be sure and put your full lunch in the dry bag. We were a little confused and only packed snacks and really regretted it. This is a great activity and we are so glad we did it.
We ate here the first time after we spent the day hiking in Waimea Canyon. This might have been the most memorable meal of my life. We were starving and the pizza really hit the spot. We thought maybe that's why we loved it so much so we just had to go back a second time to be sure. It was just as good the second time around. Highly recommend you get fresh garlic as one of your toppings.
We stayed here for 9 days on our honeymoon in December 2011 and I can't recommend it enough. We booked through a travel agent and I'm not sure if she booked us through VRBO or through Outrigger. Regardless, our experience was great. Our unit was absolutely beautiful. We had a partial ocean view (overlooking the pool really) and it was worth the extra $. One of the major selling points of the Outrigger is the location. We found the location phenomenal. We spent most of our time on the North Shore and in and around Kapaa. We did go to Waimea and also to Poipu but our favorite parts of the island (North Shore and Kapaa) were an easy distance from the Outrigger. The location is just perfect. We had regular room service but chose to skip it on a couple of days as we felt it was unnecessary. The concierge was very helpful (if a little pushy as most can be) and helped us book our helicopter and kayaking trips. The pool is lovely. However, as many have stated, this place would benefit greatly from poolside drink/snack service. We liked it so much my husband was pricing units. Enjoy your stay on beautiful Kauai, we can't wait to go back!
I had driven by this place a million times until I was finally prompted to try it out via Groupon. I am so glad we finally made it to Tora, the food was fantastic and for a little strip mall type place, the ambiance inside is quite nice. We will be back many times.
Mykonos is quickly becoming our favorite local restaurant. The food is always delicious and their salads are fantastic. The greens are always fresh and crisp (no iceberg here!) and in the summer the tomatoes look home grown. They are AMAZING. The prices are reasonable and on weekends they have belly dancers. I enjoy the ambiance, but I don't want the belly dancer coming to my table-awwkward. However, they are very professional and never approach you if you don't look interested. We've never had to wait for a table either, that is worth a star on it's own! Enjoy :)
When I found Central Nails I thought I had finally found my favorite nail salon. The prices are GREAT and the pedicures are fantastic. Yesterday I went in for a gel manicure and it is the worst polish job I've ever seen. I don't know the guys name that did my nails but i believe he is the owner-he wears a headset and answers the phone/books appointments. At any rate, he applied my gel manicure and the application of the color was terrible, I could see right away that it was streaky and patchy but I am not one to complain and I thought maybe once all was said and done it would look fine. Once he did the final seal and then cleaned the nail, the polish smudged/came off on three of my nails. This is NOT supposed to happen with gel. He had to take the polish off those three nails and re-do them-didn't try and figure out why it happened (maybe the UV bulb was going bad, etc), just immediately started over. They were busy so he had the lady next to him help with the removal. She used a dremel..a big no-no when removing gel polish...one of the benefits is that it is kinder to the nail than acrylics, etc. AT this point, I just wanted out of there. They re-polished my nails and sent me on my way. When I got outside I could see ridges and rough spots on the three nails that they had dremeled/re-done, I had gel all over my fingers and the polish application looks like something my 10 year old niece did. I am so sad to say that I will not be going back to Central Nails except maybe for a pedicure or regular manicure from the lady I know does a good job. She's the best! (unfortunately I don't know her name :(, I THINK it's Rose).
