Really enjoyed the restaurant. More like 4.5 stars. The hearty dishes were well made (medium-rare fillet mignon with mash potatoes, seafood linguine, grilled shrimp salad), by a good accommodating server. The restaurant-made bread was nice, but a little chewy. The place was packed on a Sunday night (in the middle of "nowhere", which tells you something). The wine list is meager for a wine connoisseur. I suggest bringing your own, if you are a serious wino. $20 corkage.
Came because saw lots of great reviews. Clam chowder turned out just like costo's - way too thick / floury. Tasted like from a costco frozen container. Fish and chips were below average. Fish batter not good. Fish not moist enough. Fries also not great. Fried oysters and scallops were excellent, but a little too greasy. Extremely crowded and cramped
Ordered some nigiri for take-out on a sunday night. Hamachi, salmon, scallop, halibut, etc -- the usual fish -- came home to eat -- the quality of the fish was very poor, I could see white veins on some of the cuts, the fish was "dead", and there was too much rice. I had heard about this place because they supposedly catered for Mark Zuckerberg's wedding, and some of the other reviews seemed pretty good, but my first experience was probably my last.
Fantastic pastrami and other goodies. Great with beer, but fabulous with Loire Valley's cab franc red wine, or Lambrusco (Italian sparkling).
I just posted a review on the Iron Chevsky wine blog - chevsky.com/2010/07/refu…
