I definitely heart this place. Been here about 3 times now, and it just gets better and better.
When I first walked in, I was a bit apprehensive, as this was my first time getting my hair done in Seattle as a recent transplant from San Francisco.
But all my worries subsided when I met James. Once he told me he recently moved to Seattle from the Lower East Side of Manhattan, I knew I had found my guy. That IS one of my favorite neighborhoods in NYC after all!
He fixed the haute mess on top of my head, and I walked out looking fab. I could tell he was incredibly skilled, as he used a razor instead of scissors. The haircut is a great value too. At only $29 a cut, it's very reasonable. Even when I go in for a trim, it's only $15. On my last visit, I went in for a trim, and for a blonde streak highlight. It came out to be $32 (with a $5 off coupon via Yelp checkin!!!). Trust me when I say I have paid over $100 for the exact same cut and blonde highlight. Now I know I've been getting ripped off all these years!!
I also love the interior, the products they use to wash your hair, the music they play and the overall vibe of the place. All the stylists are pretty fierce (a mix of hipsters, prepsters, and gentlemen alike), which while other people could care less, I think it's a direct reflection on how good their work is. It's a problem when your stylist's haircut looks like they got it at SuperCuts. I love waiting in the waiting area and watching some of the cuts that come walking out. There's some serious talent in this place.
Cheers to James and the always friendly staff!! :)
My friends and I were actually quite pleased with this place. They had lots of seating, although none outside since they were packed on a Friday night.
Beware: the max amount of people per hookah is 2. And it's $20 per hookah. We had 4 people, and still had to pay $40 even though only 3 of us were smoking. Watch out, they also charge more when you mix flavors. Combined with an iced chai and two iced coffees it came out to about $60. A little much if you ask me.
My only main complaint was that it was blistering hot inside. Get some good ventilation in that place it it will be good to go!! The service was pretty good, they come around often and change your coals periodically. I'd go back if I'm ever in the area again!
Parking can be ridiculous since it's on University, so come prepared to look for parking for a while!
What a HOT mess.
Let's start with the pros because I'm nice:
*Quick and easy check in.
*They give you fresh towels and sheets every day.
*Easy access to tons of restaurants and amenities since it's on El Camino Real.
*Fairly close to 101 to get you to and from major companies, including Facebook, Google, Microsoft, and Stanford.
*The wi-fi was actually pretty fast once you figured out which network to join (they had like 8 different channels going)
*No bed bugs - after reading this and the other reviews you'd think there would be some.
Now the cons:
*Now I appreciate water conservancy, I really do. I was actually pleased to see they had an eco toilet. But the shower head?? I get trying to save water, but honey, I don't want to be showering in a trickle of water. Unacceptable.
*Part of my carpet was soaking wet when I arrived, which meant that the room smelled like a wet carpet and mold cocktail.
*Two of my outlets didn't work.
*The TV worked for most of my trip, but towards the end it didn't work.
*When I arrived, they were repainting the parking lot, so there was literally no parking spots available. After traveling long hours and just wanting to get to sleep, the last thing you want is to try and find a parking spot in an area that you don't know. I was praying my rental car wouldn't get towed overnight.
In summary: If you're going to be here just to sleep, and you'll be gone for the majority of the day, it works alright.
But for real, if you're here for a business trip, AND your company is paying for it, do yourself a favor and #treatYOself to something else in the area.
This was the first time at a Travelodge and it will be the last.
All I have to say....is the buffet was amazing. ANDDDD they let us use our LivingSocial coupon to pay for the buffet. Mango lassi (not included in the buffet) was perfect too.
There is a big selection in the buffet, including garlic naan and veggie samosas. Perfect! The butter chicken was the bomb.com too. My only request is that they add Tikka Masala, my fav!
Some people are complaining about the slow service, but if you do the buffet, you don't got to wait for nobody! :)
They lose 1 star for the ambiance though. They use YouTube for their music, which means you get to listen to the lovely commercials as well. I mean, I really don't want to hear about Tampax Pearls while I'm eating.
You feel me?
Dropped in for a quick mani and it was pretty awesome!
SMALL SMALL operation, so make an appointment if you can. I just happened to walk in while they were on the slower side, but when I left, there was a full on line out the door.
ANDDD...I wasn't the only guy there which was great, I was 1 of 3! :)
My nails look awesome, and I did a nice natural clear polish that isn't too shiny at all.
Will be back for sure, perfect location!
Friends and I went here for a late night happy hour (11pm - 1am) after a night of salsa dancing.
Service was courteous, and we were able to sit outside and watch the Havana club go-ers wait in line, which is always entertaining. ;)
We ordered the brisket taquitos, guacamole, salsa, chicken mini sopes, beef tacos, soda, and margarita. It only came out to be less than $35!! A steal! The taquitos and sopes were to die for!!! A must order!
Definitely will be back for HH again!
Went here for a little salsa dancing last night!!!!
It was honestly really fun, and since I was late for the lessons, the kind woman at the front only charged me the $12 rate instead of the $17.
GREAT mix of amateurs and pros. Honestly, the people watching was the best. Some people can really get down!!!!!
If you're a woman, beware, all the mens surveying the room will surely ask you to dance. Only for the brave at heart!
The space is gorgeous. Tons of seating, cheap bar, and good ventilation. We sat next to the big giant fan! :)
Came here last weekend to check out the infamous Anniversary Sale. #NSale
Of course the partner and I said to ourselves, "let's just check it out, browse, we don't need anything, really."
Well....$400 later...we walked out with 4 new pairs of shoes, 3 of which we had to online order since they were selling out of a lot of shoes on sale.
But to be honest, I'm purely writing this review for Cody (S.?) in the Men's Shoe Department. That man is a Saint!! He was very professional and friendly, and didn't hesitate to process our online orders which were time consuming. We also had a return that he gladly exchanged. He very much met the high caliber bar of service that we expect from Nordstrom.
I was really disappointed to hear that he was only hired on as a temp for the Anniversary sale. As someone who has worked retail for 10+ years in the past, as well as a temp worker, I know how hard it can be to be uncertain where your next paycheck is going to come from, and I know what good quality customer service is.
Nordys, do yourself A FAVOR and hire this man on permanently!!!
In the end, my partner and I both LOVE our shoes. It's not often you get Frye's, Brooks, and Limited Edition Timbalands on sale, so we definitely had a great experience. I even went back again for a 2nd time just to see Cody and order more boots. :)
Great job to him and the Men's Shoes team!
Quick and easy rental place!
$16 an hour for paddleboard rentals, but they gave us 3 for the price of 2!! Andddd let's be real, they don't really track how long you're out there. :) So GREAT service if you ask me.
They only lose 1 star because we had to wait a little over an hour for our boards when they said it would only be 10mins. WOMP WOMP.
It wasn't until we went back up to the register and "complained" until they bumped us to the front of the line and apologized for the wait.
Also, some of the boards are way more sturdier than others.
Overall, still a good time was had by all!
