When I travel for business I always "give" myself a shoeshine at whatever airport I'm traveling through. Most are okay, but this place rocks! This was easily the best shine I've ever received. The fellow spent almost 20 minutes on my shoes and they were in pretty good shape to begin with. The gentleman in the seat next to me said he comes through every week on business and always stops here. I can see why. The owner has one more location at the Denver airport. I'll have to give it a try to see if they're as good as this group. These people truly deserve the accolades!
I pride myself in being a man of action and adventure; so when I came face to face with the infamous J-Mack vehicle ferry I immediately turned my Honda CRV downhill and on to the pitching deck of the ferry which crosses Steamboat Slough in the Sacramento Delta, connecting Grand Island to East Ryer Island; about a 400-foot three-minute ride. (The vessel is actually classified as an extension of Highway 220.)
The J-Mack is a 92-foot long by 32-foot wide cable drawn ferry and can carry up to six vehicles; of in our case, two motorcycles and a Honda CRV driven by a 60-year old man. . .
It's a short (think, count to fifty and it's over) ride but just quirky enough to be worth the drive to make the crossing. The Delta region is a beautiful area to wander through this time of year and finding this ferry just added to an already nice afternoon.
My experience was not unlike several others; the selection is amazing and the gentleman running the shop was friendly and knowledgeable. He had everything I was looking for on my project. After completing my purchase I spent another 20 minutes just browsing the shop looking at all the amazing fabrics. It's not like most retail stores; it's more like wandering through a friends workshop. Leave your little ones home when you visit (you'll enjoy your time more) and be prepared to explore. There's almost everything you need for any upholstery job, including all the hardware accessories. This place is a real gem!
One thing to be aware of though, I don't believe he accepts credit cards. Bring cash!
I grew up in Sacramento (age 60 now) and for as long as I can remember, Corti Bros. is where you shop to get the best. It's not a huge store, but when you really need premium meats, great cheeses, etc. you need look no further than Corti Bros. I stopped by today for a selection of cheeses to enjoy over the holidays and realized that this place is my "guilty pleasure". I can't afford $50K cars or a million dollar home, but when I want the very best rib-eye steak available, I know it'll be available in their meat counter at a price that's worth paying. It's always a treat to walk the aisles and see "what I just can't live without". I'm glad they're still here after 66 years!
My brother and I went out on a combination Rockfish / Dungeness Crab trip out to the Farallon Islands on Thursday, November 7, 2013. The boat was comfortable, the deckhands friendly and helpful, and the fishing was outstanding. We went on the 50' New Seeker and couldn't have been happier. You're always at the mercy of the weather, and we had a great day for our trip. Everyone on the boat came back with a limit of Rockfish and Crabs, easily offsetting the cost of the trip. My brother also caught two nice Ling Cod. Yeah, we'll be back again. It was great!
Members of my extended family have been going here for years. Today was my first experience and I'm already sold. The work was first rate, the prices reasonable and their communications were excellant. I'll be back for all my work in the future.
I used to do all my prescriptions at Walgreens and never had any problems. A change in our company's insurance moved me over to CVS and I've been delighted. Even after allowing us to go back to Walgreens I chose to stay with CVS because the service has been so good. Like others have mentioned, it's much more personalized. Again, I have no complaints about Walgreens, but have been delighted with CVS. Count me as a happy customer who's pleased to recommend them.
It's nice to find an item that shows evidence of fine craftsmanship in this day and age and Fox Umbrellas delivers. I recently purchased one of their umbrellas from a USA distributor and couldn't be happier. This company has been at it since 1868 and it shows. I purchased a hickory handled one piece umbrella that should easily last the rest of my life. They're not inexpensive, but their products are something that you'll treasure. You can order directly from their web site, or from Rain or Shine (of Brooklyn, New York) for those in the USA. Rain or shine keeps a good selection on hand, but for that extra special piece, you may need to go to the source. It's worth it; they're that good!
Okay, I'm going to be 59 this year and thought I'd buy myself a nice gift. Having lived in England years ago I decided I'd get a good umbrella. I'd seen Fox Umbrellas on the web and television and picked out one of their nicer ones. I contacted the good people at Fox (just south of London) and was directed to Rain or Shine in New York. I called them on the phone and was delighted to find that they had my desired umbrella in stock. I placed my order via their web site and they sent it off via Federal Express the same day. It arrived at my office in California today, wonderfully packaged, and is everything I hoped for. It wasn't a low cost item ($300 plus) but will be a treasured accessory for many years to come. My experience with the people at Rain or Shine is somewhat limited, but in my single transaction, they did everything perfect, along with having the perfect umbrella already in stock. I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a quality umbrella.
