Looks good, but but looks can be deceiving. Ordered a round of drinks - 3 beers, and a mojioto & a margarita. Took no exaggeration 20 minutes! The margarita glass was huge and this place is Latin so expectations were high. Drinks =fail! The mojioto and margarita tasted like lime flavored bitter water, horrible to the point where we could not finish them. We sat outside on the deck where a woman at the table over from us was smoking, seriously I know we are sitting outside but people are eating and we are still in the restaurant. Not one staffer said a word. If I was eating I for sure would have. While there we also saw servers arguing with whom I am guessing was the manager in front of guests on the way to the kitchen, seriously act professionally and wait till your in the kitchen to duke it out. Service = fail, drinks = fail, rude smoking patrons = fail. Why even bother to try to go back and try the food. No wonder this attractive looking place with an outdoor patio was empty on a Saturday night.

I took my boyfriend to the Capital Grille for his birthday on May 7.  I called ahead and made reservations and told them that it was his birthday.  I read in other reviews that it was loud there and it is but they seated us in a nice secluded area and the only time we noticed the noise level was when the waiter was telling us the specials.  Services was great too, very attentive but not haunting.

Now onto the good stuff and believe me there is plenty!  After they sat us they greeted us with two complementary flutes of champagne so we could do a birthday toast.  This was then proceeded by a wonderful lobster ap. courtesy of the chef.  The appetizer was over flowing with lobster meat and it was cooked just right!

Onto dinner, we started with the Pan-Fried Calamari with Hot Cherry Peppers, which they served in two plates.  One plate would have been enough for two, I love the combination of calamari and hot cherry peppers and these did not disappoint.  For the entree I ordered the Porcini Rubbed Delmonico with 12-Year Aged Balsamic (rear) and the beau ordered the Kona Crusted Dry Aged Sirloin with Caramelized Shallot Butter (medium rear).  For sides we ordered the season vegetable medley and the Lobster Mac 'N' Cheese.  Now I am not a big mac & cheese person but I read in another review that it was to die for so I figured we should give it a try.  All the food was wonderful to say the least.  Our steaks were both massive in portion and taste!  Mine could have been a bit pinker but the meat was so good that having it a little over cooked did not hurt the flavor.  The lobster mac & cheese was also very good with big chunks of fresh lobster meat in a very light white cheese sauce.  We were going to order the asparagus which looked wonderful gaging from the tables around us, but we all know what happens later after you eat asparagus.  Oh forgot to mention the wine list is spectacular, with a good variety of affordable wines in addition to the ones you need to hold back from splurging on.

As we sat in a food coma looking at the dessert menu, we were going to try to share at least one as a quasi birthday cake, our server bought over a dessert plate with a piece of the flour-less chocolate espresso cake with a single blue candle and their version of cheesecake which was round and very airy.  I do not like cheesecake but this cheesecake was to die for!  Equally impressive was the flour-less chocolate espresso cake.  Our food comma's did not stop us from almost finishing both!

Now I don't mind spending a lot of money on great food, even better company and good service.  In fact when it comes to food I will splurge away.  If you are the same then go out and splurge at the Capital Grille!  I also have to say they restored my faith in Steakhouses as I thought the Palms was overrated when I ate there last year and most recently Flemming's when we took my mother there in February (2008) for her birthday.  Lets just say the only bright spot about Flemming's was the wine, martinis and service.

I highly recommend the Capital Grille and from what I hear, their Boston locations are just as superb!
