I cannot win.
Went back for the breakfast pizza and they do not have it anymore.
Also, this day was sunny and in the 70's and they had the plastic down and, are you ready? The heat lamps were on.
It was like a sauna.
People, this is San Diego - we are meant to eat in fresh air.
Two strikes so we went to Davanti Enoteca and I wrote a review on them, as well.
Really, I am not high maintenance or hard to please.
I see good reviews but not from me.
I ordered a Belgian waffle that was served with Nutella and maybe a third of a banana.
I learned that it has to be syrup or it is just not right. Way too thick and I had to ask for more to coat all bites. My error.
My friend got something that was beef cheek with egg, but all he could taste was cheese and garlic so the server was very kind and offered something else.
By the time that arrived I was still eating - think a dog with peanut butter in their mouth - and he was not feeling well.
Turns out the next dish was also saturated with cheese and garlic and he just put it aside.
Could have been awesome for someone else, just not for us today.
The class may be OK, the instructor may be OK, but do not give them your ATM or charge card number and make sure to read the contract in full.
I gave the 30 day notice and it started up again even though the student was not there.
We cancelled and it took months of haggling in emails and when the contact person got testy, I took other measures.
What I had to do was change the number so they could not take money out.
Even talked to the DA.
My recommendation - cash or cashier's check so they do not get ANY of your account numbers.
And, if I had read any social media beforehand, I would have followed the above advice so that he could still participate.
The five stars are for BOTH San Diego restaurants..
Ate at The Headquarters location Friday (12/6/2013) - it was perfect and Corey Halcomb sees to that.
Staff, ambiance, food prep AND food temperature - always top notch.
And the desserts allow you to have no guilt about having one. Or two.
we had the ahi tuna appetizer and the scallops for lunch with a terrific wine - Pinot Blanc / Selbach-Oster, Mosel
we ordered a glass each, Ashlee (fabulous!) returns with a fresh bottle, pours us a taste, then pours the glass and starts to leave, but we just went with the bottle.
well, you know, it was right there after all.
this is standard procedure to pour at the table and probably a great way for diners to spend a bit more and just buy the bottle.
the desserts are small portions that are brought out in these small glasses - around 10 different flavors - and you choose what you wants and you get it at that time.
the entire staff was on happy juice as they were all so attentive (not overly so while you have a mouthful of food, however) and pleasant.
patio is lovely and the inside dining is quite nice and cozy - a little romance perhaps?
Cynthia - she is the one you need to know at the tasting room - FABULOUS!
The whole place was a great time. You get your tasting and then wander over to get the chocolate pairing.
Excellent food at Cafe' Merlot - the apple strudel is so yummy.
Go on Mother's Day weekend and another one in October for booths for more good things to buy.
Excellent wine, also!
