I'm not big on buffet's, but my family thought it was best to try a buffet to please everyone, and not to deal with the usual crowds for Mother's Day. Well, we arrived around 11:30 for an early lunch. It was not crowded and they were able to accommodate us. While through lunch it got busier, but they had enough staff on hand to handle the crowd.
As for the food, it was good, for a buffet. They had a sushi station, where you can have them create your own roll. There was also a mongolian bbq bar, which also had korean short ribs. An the usual assortment of fruits and vegetables. They also had the usual crab legs, shrimp and oysters on ice. The lobster was not what I expected, it was sauted with a sauce, masked the flavor of the meat. As far the other dishes, they were good based on our party's comments. So overall, everyone in our party of eight was satisfied. We will go back again, when we have a craving for a buffet.
Went with some co-workers on a recommendation. I can see why this place is popular. They give you large portions for the price. They are fast with the service. Its definitely a place to go if you are hungry for "broken rice". As for the quality of the food, it is OK.
If you have a graving for "broken rice" and on a budget, this is the place to go. If you are looking for cloth napkins and place that takes credit cards, this is not it. Its cash only.
Been here a couple of times and each time I've enjoyed the experience. It's a bit expensive, but the place has great food and service. I have had dinner during the week and weekend and both times, it was a bit crowded. They converted the bar to include dinner service, so you may be seated in the bar area. In the bar area, they have a singer to provide some live entertainment. If you wish to sit with a view and want some silence during dinner, I would recommend a reservation in the main dining area. As far as what to order, if money was not object, start with the seafood tower, then the lobster bisque, filet or sea bass, with the garlic mashed potatoes. I have order the asparagus and cream corn and was disappointed.
Overall, its a great place to celebrate a special occasion or find a way to have someone else foot the bill.
Have been here a few times this year for drinks in the patio. I have to say you cannot beat the view. As for drinks and happy hour, they have a good margarita and decent happy hour appetizers. Ordered the guacamole and ceviche. Its was a mellow crowd, great place to sit back and enjoy the view of the ocean and coastline.
Went for Happy Hour on a Sunday. Been here before during the week, We were pleasantly surprise they have Happy Hour 7 days a week. The food is good for the price. 5 different rolls for $5, tempura $4, yakitori, other items from $2-5. The service is good. Will be going back, next time we plan on trying the shabu shabu special.
Went to try their $20 3 course meal. Good selection of entree's. The service was good. The food was ok, but for $20, can't complain. For what they offer for $20, its well worth it. Will try the happy hour next time around.
Not sure what to expect, gave it a try and was pleasantly surprise. For the price, its a good place when you have a burger fix. The house fries and the sweet potato fries is much better option than getting ordinary fries. Will be going back next time we visit La Jolla.
We were looking for a good place for dinner at the Gaslamp District that was not part of any chain restaurant. We walk by La Fiesta on our way back to our hotel. We stopped in for a happy hour dink and ended up staying for dinner. The happy hour prices for drinks were in line with the other restaurants in the area, beers, margarita's and mojito's range form $2.50 to $4.00 dollars. The appetizers were mixed ok and good. As for dinner, the food was good. Watch out for their specialty dishes, they run $20+. As for the service, it was the best we experienced, between our server and the manager checking on us. We felt like kings! Will come back again.
There is a wide selection of gelato's on the menu. Its a great place to stop for gelato and espresso based drinks. We ordered a salad, panini and flat bread, plus dessert. The food was ok, but the crepes and gelato were great. With all the fine restaurants in the gaslamp, I would pass on the food and try the others restaurants in the area. Its a great place for dessert and coffee.
We were planning to eat at the Boat in the Life Plaza and was surprised to see a new restaurant. Not really knowing what to expect, we decided to give it a try. As soon as we walked in, we knew we made the right choice. The restaurant had a nicer look and feel appropriate for the cuisine. The food was delicious. We ordered a few of the popular dishes in the menu. As for the service, the service was excellent. The wait staff accommodated our needs and we were waited on by not one, but three of the staff members, plus the water attendant.
We will be going back for sure.
