came here during our stay at the cape. it was very busy and noisy inside.  we were told it could be a 30 minute wait but we stayed and was very surprised that we were accommodated much sooner than expected. our server was paula, paulina, or something to that effect and we all could barely understand how she spoke the english language. she was the reason why i took a star off my review and i'll get to that that in a bit. the food was actually  good, the ceaser salad was very very fresh. so fresh that when my wife had a bite of mine, she wanted her own, hence my wife is 8+ months pregnant and has the appetite of a starving refugee. well paula had an attitude when we asked for another salad b/c she has just put in our dinner order.  she walked away shaking her head rolling her eyes and mouthing some words to herself. like she was going to go in the kitchen and make the "premade" ceaser salad all by herself from scratch, poor paula... when she returned with the salad it was very awkward and even though they bronx boy in me wanted to call her out on her attitude and put her in her place, i had to remember that these are the people handling my food, and eating dinner with a big "loogie" in it from a pissed of server is not cool... anyways, back to the food. my wife and family had the chicken piccata which was very good. the baked stuffed sole was said to be delicious and i had the seafood alfedo which i sub'd out the "fish"  for and got bigger portions of the scallops, shrimp and lobster. it was very very good... in all we had a very good dinner food wise for the exception of paula who almost ruined the experience with her attitude. i paid cash and her tip on a very big check  was a reflection of the crappy service we had from her. would i come back here again? yes i would b/c the food was good and i won't let someone one who was having a bad day keep me from a decent meal so i'll give it another shot when we come back to the cape.i just hope this establishment realizes that good service is part of a business's rep. let's see what happens next time...........................

saw the recent reviews and was a bit nervous about this place, even the front of this place isn't too inviting but we were all hungry for lunch and in a pinch . it was nice out so we sat outside on their back patio. it was quaint, nothing spectacular but had a nice view. we had the fried clam strips which were pretty good, and a nice portion, the scrod melt which my inlaws liked and the grilled chicken sandwich which was said to be good as well... the place was empty which was good for us but we wondered why it was so decollete... i can't really give a descriptive review on their dinner as we only had lunch at this establishment, but on our experience here i would recommend it for a quick bite to eat for lunch. the foodie in me wonders how their entree's would be so we might be back again, hence another review.... hopefully this place gets better reviews in the future..... enjoy...

for starters, there are 3 versions of the black cat.. the harbor shack, the shack out back, and the tavern. my dinner review is of the latter. the place was very busy on a monday night, it was a beautiful night and everyone was out and about. we didn't have reservations, but didn't wait long to be seated, about 20 minutes tops.. it was very noisy inside and we were seated at a table with a big flat screen t.v right over it, but they had a yankee's game on so that was fine with me. but i can see how fine dining and t.v's can be a no no.. now on to the food....the clam chowder speaks for itself, yes amazing...  had the grilled steak tips with the grilled lobster tail. it was delicious. the lobster portion could have been a little bigger, but was still good..  my wife had the steak tips also which she loved, and others at the table had the baked seafood casserole which was delicious  as well. for desert we all had the black cat ice cream sunday. it was ok i mean come on , its ice cream, but we all noticed that the hot fudge was weirdly hard and very stringy like rubber.... it basically ruined the whole desert... as for the prices, they were competitive. i mean come on, your in a popular tourist spot, downtown hyannis cape cod. if you're looking for cheap prices try to find a reb lobster or a golden coral..(smh)... in all it was a good experience and would recommend it as one of the better places to eat in hyannis at least once. we actually came back the next day for lunch. we ate at "the shack out back".  we all had the angus cheese burger with the skinny fried and an order of onion rings which was pretty good as well and would recommend it. if you like a lively place and decent food this is a good find, and our next trip to the cape will include this establishment..

came here with my wife on a whim. we haven't been back here since we got married... we got married at the litchfield inn a couple yrs ago. the bantom bistro is located inside this establishment. saw that the menu and staff has changed since. they were offering a 3 course dinner special for $40.... when we saw what they were offering we figured we'd do it. well let me tell you, that was a great idea......the food was delicious. i couldn't believe the portion and quality of food my wife and i received. i had the ribeye steak, and my wife had the some kind of chorizo chicken. we chose the bantom house salad which comes with a balsamic dressing. it was very fresh. and our desserts were very good was well...i think the only thing i was ticked about was that i was being charged for every refill of my soft drink....but that was a small price to for a very good quality sunday afternoon dinner.. service was very polite and attentive and not over bearing. i would definitely recommend this place for a quality dinner that really won't hit you hard in the wallet if you look for the specials. they also have a happy hour at their bar which is pretty nice, updated and fully stocked. as for my review on my wedding... you're going to have to look for that at the litchfield inn review page...

this place is a staple among the city island community. still has that quient look inside, until its gets packed, lol...me and my wife used to try to make it a point to come here almost every time we come back to my home town, and my family has been coming here since the 80's. i havent been here in some time so i was excited to be back, but when i looked at the menu and saw the new prices i was like ehhhhh???. i couldn't believe the chicken parm, the go to and most average and popular thing on most restaurants menu's was over $20.. i dunno, maybe i've been living out of the city too long... but honestly i was astounded at how much the prices jumped since the last time my wife and i ate here...anyways, on to the critique....... the service was eh but polite, i had an empty water glass for most of my dinner, the waiter was polite but i did catch him talking to the ppl at the next table and when they were asking for recommendations and what was in most of the items on the menu i can quote him saying " i have to go in the back and check, and ask"...... hmmm educated waiter------ not so much....anyways, i had the fettuccine with shrimp and lobster in an alfredo sauce, not bad.... not the best, but it was a large portion so i'd say reasonable and recommendable. my family had the shrimp scampi which was ok,shrimp parm, a lil over breaded and crunchy, ceasrer salad with grilled chicken, which was dry but the salad was fresh and a generous portion.. oh and the eggplant rollatine which my grandmother loved...as for deserts, lava cake and a chocholate fudge brownie sunday which my wife and others enjoyed....the food was an overall ok experience. i have to say for the quality of food as oppossed to the bill, hmmmmm.... ive had better experiences for half the cost..i get it that in the nyc area everything is going to be a little more expensive, also raising the prices keeps out most undesireables, but still i see this place trying to hold on by upping the cost of a just above average dinning experiece in my opinion... and trust me , my opinion is based on dinning here for over 20 yrs..and why have we been coming here for so long and now im giving a "menz-a-menz" review you ask...this rewiew is based on the quality this place used to have, a contrast to the experience we just had recently. but my family likes to come here b/c lets be real, how many semi quality restaurants are there in city island???? the only others have beautiful water views but have mehh food at best, and the rest are cafatieria style eating. so would i come back again? yes,  for a dinner party that i am invited to, but would not come back here again unless very desperate b/c of the mixed feelings i now have for this place...

me and my wife have always stayed here b/c of its exclusiveness, quality and attention to detail. but....... as of recent years the quality has been lacking. we used to always order food poolside on the weekends and now a days on sundays you cant. the place is starting to show some wear and tear. im not a big gambler but i always get comps to stay here since we used to come so much just to get away for a weekend. theres so much competition now with newer casino's and totally revamped old ones that its time to step it up another notch. the rooms can be pricey on peak days especially if you don't have comps , vouchers etc. not to mention the nickel and dime charges for your "al la carte experience"... this place still has quality but has lost a star in my opinion b/c i have seen this place from its younger years thrive and am seeing it slowly succumb to corporate bottom lines as opposed to the top notch quality they claim they still have. and im basing this review from my most recent stay here.....would i stay here again?... thats a good question....my answer used to be quick with absolutely... now a days i have to think about it......

i've been to this place a few times already, not bad if you have an open mind. when you walk in its very spacious , a makeshift dance floor and a pool table with a big downstairs, so im assuming they do live entertainment and have a big crowd on weekends. you have to basically almost walk up to the bar or the service station to find out if you wait to be seated or seat yourself.....here's a hint... use your common sense and seat yourself. we sat on the outside waterfront deck. it was a beautiful day, duhh,  that was a no brainer. our service was a little slow and they really weren't busy. there is a lower outside deck also but they don't serve food there.. at least that's what we were told. they do "dock and dine" which is cool and very convenient. i would say this place is very good if your just looking to grab some drinks and some apps, or take a break from the water,  not for the whole "dinner experience". as for the food the most recent thing ive had was the garlic steak.. i don't know why i ordered it but i was just in the mood for steak and i'm a garlic fanatic so there's your answer. it was ok at best and drowned in garlic juice of some sort. we tried their app sampler which comes with fried mozz, loaded potatoes, chicken tenders, and something else i forgot... my wife was hungry so she ordered the chicken dinner she said it was good and chicken wasn't dry. our food took forever to come out though. i'd have to say out of all the times we've been here service was consistently slow. as for the food. its a hit or miss. this place has alot of potential with a beautiful view, they just need to revamp the service and update some very outdated  decor.....im sure this place makes a killing with alcohol alone so they pretty much ignore the rest , and it shows. oh and one more thing, if you get weird looks from the other patrons around you  its b/c your not a regular. every time we've come here we get eye balled like we walked in naked. its just so awkward and uninviting... would i come back here again? yes i would, but during the evening hours just for drinks and some apps, and to take in the nice view off the deck. that's the only thing this place has going for them, and the only reason why i gave a 3rd star.

the reason for the 3 stars is fair with some highs and lows, and i will explain why. ive been to this place a few times. 2 of which was by choice....... once for dinner with the wife, and the other  for brunch.  the rest were just dinner parties and brunch parties that we were invited to. as for my dinners i've experienced the chicken marsala, steak pizzaiola, chicken parm, chicken francese and the baked manicotti. i enjoyed the manicotti the most, how could you screw that up... the steak was rubbery, and the chicken was dry and tough, even the marsala sauce was mehhh at best. the francese sauce was weak. even the ol' reliable chicken parm was a disappointment. come one, how can you miss the mark with chicken parm.... i'd also like to note the chikcen cutlets looked  and tasted like they were bought at some major chain food retailer, not home made.. i guess some ppl just don't know what a homemade chicken cutlet looks or tastes like... as for their brunch. they have a good spread. i'd have to say i've enjoyed this place more for brunch then dinner.... you really get  your moneys worth. unlimited mimosas and bellinis are a plus. as for service, it was good, very attentive and polite. although i think the owner is aiming for the sexy waitress look b/c the way the female servers were dressed you'd think they were going to ask if you wanted a lap dance after dinner... i mean these mini skirts were ridiculous, and if you're group includes young children, its very inappropriate. my brother and i were making bets as to how many times we could see the waitresses' underwear every time they bent over... my wife and his girlfriend weren't amused... oh well, lol...also parking is a nightmare, they do have a valet service, but i noticed with my window seat extremely close to the sidewalk, that that ppl waiting for their cars were waiting, and waiting, and waiting and there's nowhere warm to wait, so you are waiting in the elements.... best part was their cars were in the lot right across the street diagonal to the restaurant...in all i'd probably only come back here again for their brunch, not their dinner, its just not worth it in my opinion. manhattan prices in the bronx...hmmmm... i forgot to mention... their margarita pizza is actually pretty good.... keep that in mind.....i'd recommend that if you want it for delivery or pick up....and one more little hint,  get there early for brunch, this place fills up quick and you do not want to be there with the large groups of  "after church goers" ....buffet lines can and will be long as atrocious.... i know from experience.....

my wife and i always enjoy a good meal here. never a disappointment. our most recent meal was the american kobe strip with smashed baked potato for me, and the filet mignon with roasted asparagus for my wife.. we chose a bottle of  malbec, alto landon L' ame, castilla 2008 to accompany our meal. i would definitely recommend if you like a full bodied red with a heavy steak dinner. if we had the time we would have let the wine sit and "breathe" a little more but it was still a good choice. the steaks were mouth watering and our server was very polite and attentive. i have to say, this place is a little on the pricey side and the overall ambiance of the place is a little overrated, but hey, you're in atlantic city and mostly everything is going to be outrageously overpriced unless you're eating at a buffet. we keep coming back b/c of the quality of the food that we experience here. so in my opinion, we will be back again on our next stay at the water club.

let me just say my family has been coming to this place for years, and enjoyed every visit so far. we know this place isn't wining and dining in a romantic, classy, intimate atmosphere and we are fine with that. but....... i have checked the recent yelps about this place and they aren't so inviting, as i respect all the yelper's  opinions and take them into consideration. with that said, on to my critique. we were seated right away. this place does not take reservations, first come, first served. our waitress was very polite as well. i had the newport black steak with mashed potato. it was very tasty. just wish the portion was a little bigger. my wife and her aunt had the 12 oz prime rib au jus. it was very tasty as well. of course i had a bite. i would recommend both. our waitress pointed out that the steaks were very generous that night... good for my wife and her aunt, i was like not so much for me b/c i could have used a little more meat. considering it was st. patty's weekend we didn't wait long for our drinks and entrees since the place was starting to fill up rather quick. our drinks were good , i had a few Guinness' and my wife's aunt had a margarita which in her words "hit the mark".  salads that came with our meal were good also, fresh.... in all we had a good experience. i think they were having a band play that night, but we had already finished dinner before they started setting up. in my opinion if you're looking for a foo-foo dinner experience, do not come here.. this is a very family orientated place for a good par apre-ski dinner. take it for what it is and enjoy the food that you know in your heart no one can mess up. we will definitely be back next season.
