Of all the restaurants that I tried in the area Brigatine was my favorite. I came here two years ago on my last visit and remembered how good it was so came back. For dinner I had this special flounder with a white cream sauce with capers that was very good. It came with garlic mashed potatoes which were also amazing. Like most bars and restaurants in the area they have a good selection of locally made craft beers. I have become a fan of the craft brews in San Diego!
The next day I came back for lunch and had Crab Louie which also was very good. It had real crab and shrimp. I sat at the bar and had excellent service both times even though it was very busy for dinner. This is a must try restaurant if you are in the area.
This hotel is on shelter island so you have great views of the San Diego skyline, the marina and the San Diego bay. There are two buildings. The older one has the lobby and the rooms are smaller but still comfortable. The beds and pillows are great. I slew great here. I the newer building they have Jr. suites that are huge with a full size refridgerator. I stayed in one of these rooms on my last visit. It was a fantastic room. This visit I stayed in a room in the older building. I then got moved to the newer one with a marina view and balcony. Each building has its own pool. The pool by the lobby is nicer and larger but the other one is more then adequate. Both have a hot tub.this location is convenient to the airport, downtown and Ocean Beach. There is also a lighthouse at the end of the Point that is worth checking out.
The hotel has a shuttle that takes you to the airport. It would be nice if they also took you to the Gaslamp District since parking is very difficult there as well as a lot of places in the downtown San Diego area.
This is a nice place to visit and very convenient if you are staying on Sheltrr Island. They have a great view of the downtown skyline. It's also fun to see all those sailboats and ships passing by. Nice protected beach and fire pits that are very popular after dark.
To be the tour was just ok. I got there 45 minutes before the tour started and there was a sign in front of the parking lot saying the tours were closed. I finally went up to somebody and they said of the tour start at noon. I came back about quarter to 12 they were already scores of people waiting for the tour to open. They still had the parking lot closed! See the photo. They finally opened the parking lot about 2 minutes before 12 according to my watch. So if you got there earlier you had to park on the street somewhere and walk over. This was kind of confusing to me since they already had many people waiting for the tour. There were so many people in front of me it took about 25 minutes before we got on a little shuttle the drill this through town and the driver gave us a brief but interesting history of Golden Colorado and Adolph Coors. I thought the tour was kind of short. There is no tour guide you get just a self-guided tour which you can go through in very a brief time. I saw a few pictures of the old brewery which apparently it was made out of brick. This brewery just looks like it's made out of cement and kind of looka like a prison. The Anheuser Busch tour in St Louis is a much longer tour then this one was and they still had the beautiful old red brick buildings. Of course the highlight of the tour is the beer tasting! In the middle of the tour they give you a tiny cup of the Banquet beer or Coors Light if you prefer that was just made. I was the bay how good it was! At the end of the tour you get to choose three beers from hey pretty good selection of the beers they make at the brewery. I was a little surprised to notice that the banquet beer at the end of the tour was not quite as good as the little sample of the middle of the tour. Overall not a bad tour especially since it is free.
I went to this place after all the great reviews on Yelp. I was not disappointed as the cheeseburger I ordered was cooked just right, juicy not greasy and very tasty. I often to go without a bun and my only criticism is I wish they could have made it into a lettuce wrap instead of just putting the burger on top of finely chopped lettuce and onions. If I go back maybe I will make that suggestion.
Very nice little museum for only 3 dollars. It's not that big does it take you very long to go through it it is definitely worth it if you are in the area. I like how they have it decorated like it was still being run in the 1800's. I really liked the kitchen with a wood burning stove as well as the other antiques in there.
I went there on a rainy Sunday night so the bar was almost empty. There were two other gentleman there and they left so it was just me. The bartender was really nice enjoy talking with her about Poland. I also enjoyed their selection of beers. They had a lot of Polish beers and even some German beers. Their menu looked very interesting and I settled on the Polish Snitzel on the recommendations of the bartender. I thought it was fantastic! I just wish there would have have been more of the cucumber dill salad on the side. I hope to make it back do this little restaurant before I leave Denver. Since it is downtown parking is usually non-existent.
I love this place for breakfast! I have been there three days in a row 2 of those days I got the chicken fried eggs with bison hash. The bison has a slight smoky flavor which makes it very good. The eggs are actually breaded and deep fried to a soft boiled egg state. They have a very interesting breakfast menu. They also have two types of gumbo and some smoke meet with you can also get for breakfast. Today I got the gumbo with a crab cake and shrimp. It was only okay not like what you get in Louisiana, not even close. I love the location in an old brick house and you can sit indoors or outdoors. The first time I went there was Sunday morning I had to wait over 30 minutes for a table but once I got seated the service was actually pretty quick.
I came in for lunch and did not see the chicken mole on the menu. I had read some of the reviews and had my mind made up on the chicken mole. The waiter came back with another menu which had more entrees on it. I saw that they had two chicken mole one was with green the other one was mole with a hint of chocolate. The menu described both as a quarter of a chicken. When I got the order it was a small boneless chicken breast with the sauce on top and a side of rice with flour tortillas. I mention to the waiter that I thought the menu said a quarter of a chicken. He went back to check and came back and said you were right. And that was that. No I'm sorry , and no discount from the price. Anyway the chicken breast with a little dry but I have to say the mold was decent. I was a little disappointed that there were no vegetables or even a side salad. I thought it was a little expensive for what you got.
I don't know why they tell you that the ride to Catalina is just over an hour. It takes over 90 minutes each way. The terminal is really nice with a very nice Bistro. We got there early, they told us to get there an hour early so we had time to eat at the Bistro.
The ride was comfortable, the boat is pretty stable. We got discount cards at Costco so we were able to get Commodore seating for basically the same price as the regular tickets. The view is actually better in the regular seating because you can see in front of the boat. We just had a view of the bar area.
