I drop this review as I walk away, still floored by how nice the staff and service is at artisan house. The gesture in question was truly a small token: I wanted to purchase some balsamic vinegar as I just ran out and alas they were out of stock. What does the super helpful girl behind the counter do? Asked me how much I needed (2 tablespoons) and proceeded to get me little to go container of it. As a local you know where to shop for value and where to shop for convenience but artisan house just stepped it up by making a place so service oriented that any surcharge over the grocery chain is easily worth it. You guys rock!
Five stars comes down to service which comes down to happy staff which comes down to people that believe in the quality that defies what your expectation would be from a "cafe". Prices reflect quality and while this lunch ain't cheap, you will be rewarded with a mid teen financial commitment for lunch. Made me a believer in top shelf burgers working with BBQ sauce. Fries were worth the $2 upgrade. Salivating on what they can do on the breakfast end as well.
Gotta love a spot that cranks out affordable grub with a staff that could step into a Mastro's or Mozza and handle their biz. Total pro's slanging sandwiches that taste as good as they sound. But the real deal is a burger that is a sleeper on the menu; read about it on LA TACO: lataco.com/taco/bang-bur…
I just love this damn place. Don't be fooled by the 5 stars being some bat signal to a james beard joint in shack(save that for Yuca's on Hillhurst), rather the stars reflect an overall experience that is exactly as advertised when rolling down California ave. You cannot roll into Burger Hut and not keep thinking "random" while you sit and and sit wait for your burger. But random is the name of the game when you peak into strip malls, stands, shacks and liquor stores while looking for a cheap lunch in the Valley, be it the surname of Fernando or Gabrtiel.
And did I mention the wait? Good because you will and the burger is worth it. The wait is a testament to the time and care put into preparing these affordable and approachable burgers. Expensive food shouldn't be the only food that has care and thought put into the kitchen and Burger Hut is that plus reasonable prices, good portions and good lord they accept plastic. Winning.
Went with the 1/2lb, ordered medium rare and delivered with the patty still mooing. My only criticism is that there wasn't the most sear on the exterior but the beefy flavor that was delivered was more than worth any lack of browning. These guys take time in the kitchen and you should take the time to eat here. Solid burgers for a more than reasonable price.
I think we all have seen the infamous sketch on the Chappelle show that lampoons a Kinko's store, specifically the service. While the thought of that sketch still brings a smile to my face; the facts on the ground at the FedEx Kinko's of Burbank could not be further from the truth. For what seemed like a menial task that I should done myself, staff members Chris and JD were courteous and honest about the cost of said services(they took an excel doc printed on a standard 8.5 by 11 inch paper and cut it into 4 perfectly even rectangles) and in less than 5 minutes I was on my way.
Sometimes it is the simplest of tasks that can become thorns in our side and it is nice to know that you can depend on a massive corporate conglomerate to help you out; as long as said massive corporate conglomerate hires, trains and keeps good guys like Chris and JD among their rank and file.
I mentioned when I left that I would be writing a review and they were happy and hoping their manager would see it - that's the sign of happy employees, so well done FedEx Kinko's. I can't wait for the next time and I am not able/willing to use a paper cutter and return.
