after being a member here for 16 months i can say that things have improved and for the rate i joined at, its a valuable membership. (i cant say for the new member price today)
they updated the weight room with more machines, a bigger turf, and a giant LED screen.
the sauna is back to a traditional stone (versus infrared) and they replaced the cryo chamber with a new device that is even colder!
the recovery room has more spaces for all the offered benefits including theraguns, massage beds, etc.
i'm happy they took many suggestions and made the improvements through the months.
Beautiful new gym with state of the art equipment and facilities.
I signed up thinking this would be in the same category as equinox, but it's definitely not. As nice as it is, the gym itself is too small. They should have skipped on the basketball court and used that space specifically for cardio machines, then used that extra space in the main area for more weights. Classes are always booked up full in the reservations app. I can never find parking. And they don't even have 35lb plates for barbell! (I'm used to 5, 10, 25, 35, 45 plates)
I know, these are first world problems, but for what it costs monthly... it's coming up short. I'll give them some time for them to work on the growing pains, but i'm not sure how long i'll stay a member.
Pros:
-Clean and new.
-Lots of treadmills.
-Recovery area is great (Additional fee)
Cons:
-Limited parking.
-Hard to obtain reservations for classes.
-Limited space, so the weight room is missing a lot of machines and weights.
SLOW SLOW SLOW. Disorganized. Hard to find parking. I arrived 30 minutes after my online order just to see it had not even been placed in the oven yet! Mind you, 8:30pm on a Thursday night, not even a busy time. I will definitely not order from here again.
2 words... Monte Cristo. If you cant manage to get into Blue Bayou, come here to get the delicious fried ham and cheese sammy with powdered sugar on top. They now serve alcohol! Beer, Wine, and a couple of cocktails. I got a Hurricane, it was ok. What you'd expect from theme park premade drinks. The service was friendly and nice and a enjoyed my quick dinner here before the fireworks.
If Im not in DLTA this is the spot for Eggslut. Las Vegas! Upstairs from the casino, just outside the food court, this location is bustling. Between 9am and 12pm expect a line. It does go by fairly quick though. Theres not a thing on the menu that isnt good. I'm a fairfax guy myself. Present your players card to earn points on your purchase too!
Go early if you want the mango sticky rice, if you stop for dinner, chances are they're sold out. Pad thai, Thai tea, and the dessert MSR is my staple meal here and every time it delivers. Nestled in the center of the Grand Central Market, its a great part of the eclectic mix of restaurants inhere. They are pretty quick with the food and service, in during lunch or dinner rush. If you're craving Thai in DTLA, they is a must try.
