If you enjoy being packed together like sardines, a menu that is efficiently taken down to the "5 items we serve", waiters that are only involved in getting people in and out and mediocre dining in a dark and run down place, then you've found your place.
What a complete disappointment. In the town for the evening before leaving out of SFO we decided to come here based on Yelp ratings...this is the first time yelp has led me wrong on a restaurant, but boy was it wrong.
I am from the Midwest and know my prime rib. Their prime rib....meh. The garlic mashed potatoes and the creamed spinach are served on the plate with the prime rib. The meat is swimming in au jus and so are the sides. Slosh. Were they good...who knows, they tasted like au jus with garlic. The salad is also dished up in "batches" and dressed with their "house" dressing (No choices here, either, folks), so slightly warm and wilty. Seriously, look at the pictures on this site. Being able to cook a prime rib to rare-medium rare is nothing if it tastes mediocre and yes, presentation counts!
Getting to the table is a mouse maze between tables that have been crammed together for maximum seating. The wait people have a hard time getting through and customers have trouble getting seated.
Honestly, I can't say enough disappointing things about this place. Go down the street to Broadway Grill. Enjoy a nice environment, great service people, maybe some music and a good meal. Really. Just don't waste your time here, unless the first paragraph fits your tastes.
Several months ago we were in Burlingame for the night before an early morning flight out of SFO. We went to the quaint little downtown area and quickly yelped for a great dinner spot. We picked wrong...because we didn't pick Broadway Grill. What a mistake! It was our second choice. ( We went to Broadway Prime and for those of you who have ever been to a cafeteria you can get a good idea of what that dinner and atmosphere was like! Don't make our mistake!)
After having our very disappointing dinner down the street, we decided to stop by for dessert and an after dinner drink. What a good choice. We were seated at a lovely sidewalk table. Across from the table was a window with a direct view to second level stage, where a jazz duo was playing. Our waiter came out, Everett. Took our drink order and recommended some desserts. We ended up with the bread pudding...warm, sweet (but not too) and absolutely delish! As we chatted with Everett (your manager should give you a BIG bonus...) we explained how disappointed we'd been in our dinner selection, especially as we were smelling the wood fired steaks...oh yelp...you led me wrong!
Well, we decided to come back this last weekend when we were once again overnighting at the airport. I waited to write this review knowing we'd be back soon It was a quiet Sunday evening, so no band. This time, our waitperson Rhonda, couldn't have been sweeter or more attentive! (Whoever does the hiring here is right on-good job!) We enjoyed a couple of specialty cocktails skillfully made (Orange75, highly recommended ) and some of their more comfort food items to complement a cooler evening, Chicken Pot Pie, Macaroni and Cheese and Meatloaf. The Chicken Pot Pie was creamy and delicious with a perfectly browned puff pastry crust, the macaroni and cheese was good, but had some watery areas inside the macaroni-overall, not bad-and even better left over. My husband ordered the meatloaf. It was rich, too rich for me, made with beef and three kinds of sausage. His review was it was ok. We again enjoyed the bread pudding. Rhonda was great, giving us recommendations along the way and checking on us several times.
The people at the table next to ordered steaks and couldn't quit commenting on how good they were, and they looked delicious. Next time, and there will be a next time, we are going for the steaks and on a night when the music is going. Four stars because I think the pricing a tad bit high, the food is good but has such potential to be great. A beautiful restaurant with terrific ambiance but best of all the service people are top notch -they rate Broadway Grill 5 stars.
I manage a corporate apartment and after having one resident move out and another preparing to move in we needed to have most every item removed from the apartment. As an east bay resident, I had no reference for hauling in the city. I contacted Raz Hauling based on their YELP reviews and wasn't let down. I contacted Z!v by email and he promptly got back to me with information and an initial estimate. He was quick, thorough, polite and efficient with this answers. I quickly determined that the level of the haul was going to go upward as it was decided that most everything needed to go. I again contacted Z!v. This time I sent him pictures of the rooms and layout so he could get a good idea of what was being hauled. He again sent an estimate, which turned out to be the amount. Nice. No surprises. On the scheduled day he was prompt (early, in fact), which was a little unfortunate as the people who had scheduled the building elevator before us were running over their time. Z!v and his very polite crew were patient with the delay and made the most of their time by queuing the furnishings for a quick load once they had the elevator. Z!V and his crew treated me and the project with respect. They were pleasant and funny. They make me wish I had more hauling to do, but since I don't.. well, you should call them. You won't be disappointed.
I am an exec administrative assistant and manage a corporate apartment in San Francisco. We started using Sparkling Clean a few years back and have not ever been sorry or second guessed the decision. We are completely pleased with them. Toni-the dispatcher I work with- is always pleasant, responsive, flexible and has excellent customer service skills. Beto-our lead housekeeper- does an excellent job and we never have to worry about a thing. I've received compliments about him (and his partner) from our concierge staff at the apartment on how pleasant he is, also. (I figure they see a lot of housekeepers come and go, so I consider that good praise.) From Scheduling to Billing they are a top notch customer service related company. I'm so glad we found Sparkling Clean.
Motorcycling from SF bay area to Colorado we made reservations here ahead of time, wanting to make it to the other side of SLC. We were pleasantly surprised by several things. The size of the hotel. I think the whole town of Coalville might be able to stay here! And the staff...they couldn't have been nicer or more welcoming. When we asked them for dinner recommendations they told us that there were only 2 places still open on a Sunday night and gave us directions. (Note to self: maybe arrive on a different day?) So we checked in and hightailed it over for dinner a few blocks away. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The air conditioning worked great, the bed was good, and the showers were clean and hot. Affordable rates, too. All in all, eveyrthing you could want. We'll stay again if we are headed that way, no doubt.
Good food, good service, full bar, reasonable prices, generous portions and a decent patio (once you get over a little highway noise!).Located in a newer area around the airport where there are few restaurants its nice to have an options that falls between fine hotel dining and an express pancake restaurant. After a long day traveling what more could you ask or need?
We decided to drop over the Oregon border for lunch while on a weekend motorcycle getaway to the Redwoods. We'd read several Yelp reviews that recommended it, and most especially the Clam Chowder and the fish and chips.
Its a small place, clean and was crowded for lunch. We found a place outside that someone had just vacated and snagged it. I held the table while my husband went to order. We each had the clam chowder, which we'd just been jonesin' for since we read about it on Yelp the night before and we'd just gotten off a brisk motorcycle ride.
The chowder was just ok. It had a heavy flour taste, to both of us, and minimal clams or veggies. It was definitely thick, though.. The bread bowl was good and the garlic croutons were awesome! We we disappointed that it didn't quite meet our expectations, and I wished that I'd gotten the fish and chips, which I saw go past several times and looked delish. Darn...wish I'd tried 'em.
We'd go back, but we'd try something else.
We have been here twice now with out of town family and haven't been disappointed at all. The people are really nice, there is a nice variety of great Italian dishes to choose from and they are all served good, hot and plentiful! My only complaint would be that the food is a tad on the bland side, but still enjoyable. If you like olives, you have to try the hot olives as appetizer. And all though we had a dessert smorgasbord (tried 4 different desserts) my favorite was the blackberry-merlot granita. Yum!
You know you've been out of town too long when you have to call for and emergency facial waxing! While visiting family in Springfield I decided I needed to be ready for work upon my return home and called Frost (based on other Yelp reviews and location). They got me right in. What a cute shop! Nicole offered a friendly and pleasant greeting and assured me that Tiffany would do an excellent job. Tiffany came out shortly to tell me she would be with me in a minute after she changed linens. Clean. I like that. Tiffany turned out to be friendly, conscientious and skilled. I'm loving my new eyebrow arch and hairless face. I can't speak for their hair or nails, but if Tiffany and Nicole are any indication, you won't go wrong. It's gonna be a long commute back from California!
I've been seeing Denys for about 2 years now. She is amazing with color and a wizard with scissors. She is always trying new and better techniques to get my color to last longer, shine more and yet, keep my hair healthy. I have always worn my hair straight, but she has been able to help me realizea headful of natural curl. All the other hairdressers I've had have just told me I have "curly spots" that they have to adjust for in their cuts, rather than actually developing what's there naturally. She has a great shop (with its own parking -a plus!) She also uses it to showcase and support local artists so it never looks the same twice. If you're looking for someone who has a great color technique, understands hair, is genuinely nice and runs a great shop then you need to be here. You're wasting your time elsewhere.
