They've changed, again! I walked in for a mani-pedi yesterday to new staff, a new layout, new equipment and most importantly - the same price!
I will miss the girls who were super smiley and got along quite well with me, but I have to say that after the makeover this place looks a lot more professional and inviting. The service is still good and my mani-pedi looks fabulous.
Edit: they also offered me free nail art since the next day was my birthday :)
Give it a try!
No complaints! This salon was close to my hotel and I was feeling particularly deprived of some fancy nails. When I walked by around 5.30pm, they were handing out coupons for services and I chose a $15 manicure(regularly $25) with nail art - which turned out super pretty. The work was detailed and I was chatted up quite politely the whole time. Overall, I was pleased with my decision and can't stop staring at my nails!

With their new revamp, there's no reason to resist Kanishka any longer. Visited there and almost didn't recognize the restaurant!
The food was as good as ever, everything perfectly spiced and seasoned, and SO much variety. We enjoyed the gobi manchurian, the malai kofta (several), sambar and aloo saag. And the naan, oh the best naan ever.
The service was great as well. I look forward to returning!
OMG! This was amah-zing. I got the veggie moussaka which was incredibly flavorful and perfectly seasoned. It came with a side salad and tzatziki. I swear, it's the freshest salad i've ever had and the tzatziki was so so good.
That's enough gushing. I'm definitely going back.
We went in to Graze the day before the great blizzard of Feb '11. We were a large, rowdy group of 11 and Graze was more than happy to welcome us in. Living up to our boisterous reputation, we were officially the first set of customers to ever request for shots at our table!
The rest of my review will be the vegetarian perspective - note that all my friends with no dietary restrictions absolutely loved their food as well. Our table(s) got a number of cheese plates, cheese curds and LOTS of bread. It was all so good. The bread in particular, with the herbed butter, was spectacular. By far, as everyone else mentions, these felt like the best cheese curds in Madison! I wasn't very hungry after eating all the cheese, so I got the Warm Farro salad. It was bursting with flavor and was well sized. The lack of an entree was sad, but I wasn't overcome as I had stuffed my face before!
For dessert, they brought us out cupcakes - the bourbon one was SO good!
Our server was fabulous, we tipped him extremely generously. We left full and happy.
Had a rare experience here. Their website said that they stay open till 10pm on Sundays, so BF and I sauntered there at 9.40pm. The 'Open' sign was still on and there were two gentlemen outside who said they were open, so in we went... only to find we were the only ones there and the kitchen was closed. Except the owner who was sitting outside came in and ordered everything to be started up for us!
Once the food arrived, it was DELICIOUS. I got the lentils, which were cooked and seasoned to perfection. BF got the lamb tagine which he enjoyed as well. He liked the mint tea more than I did, it was too sweet for me. We felt really grateful for the great food despite the late hour. The decor was great as well.
And just as we leave, the owner invites in a group of 5 others :) I'm sure our host and waiter were not thrilled. I hope they managed to have a great Labor Day regardless.
I came back to write a review because a week since I visited, I find myself craving their green chile and the rest of the food. Top points on everything - atmosphere, service, and exceptional food (and drinks)! Tell the server if you're vegetarian and you will get some good recommendations. I had the Green Chile plate (vegetarian) and I finished every last bite.
The food also came out really quickly and piping hot.
I would go back to Denver just to go here again.
All the goodness of Simple Cafe. Everything about it was fresh and cheery, from the walls to the staff and the cute cutlery-decor! The menu was filled with exciting possibilities, and the two I had were lip-smacking. I tried the Seasonal Harvest Frittata, which was just bursting with flavors and the Strawberry Orange Pankcakes. Oh the pancakes. Light flavorful goodness with the freshest strawberries ever! My boyfriend got the steak. He loved it too!
I would love to come back here and eat my heart out.
We stopped by after st.patty's day for the lunch buffet. First the samosas absolutely bowled us over-fluffy,not too oily and just the right size. The naan was excellent-great mix of soft and crisp(try it!) and the curries(dal makhni, aloo baingan, palak paneer) were excellent.
The downers were okra(oily), pulao(undercooked) and halwa(not sweet enough). But i'm willing to overlook these and come back again to try one of the more affordable indian places in chicago's downtown.
