I grew up in Louisiana, so I'm picky about Cajun food. Jezebels absolutely delivers. The food was excellent - the fried green tomatoes were the best I've had, the shrimp creole was pretty good, the seafood étouffée was to die for, and the red beans and rice was spot on. They also had some jalapeno cornbread muffins which were good, and only slightly spicy. Service was very good, and fairly quick. They even have Abita Amber available. I'll definitely be going back.
As the star rating says, "meh." It's an acceptable sports bar - lots of TVs, but none of them are really big or impressive so go somewhere else if you want to be immersed. The music is way too loud, this place needs to decide whether it's a sports bar or a club. The beer selection is weak. Sure, they have more than the usual AB-Miller selection, but what do they have? The same stuff you can get anywhere: Guinness Newcastle, etc. The only "highlight" is stocking two uninspired Great Lakes beers, Dortmunder (their blandest) and a seasonal. And the food was acceptable, but not good, and not really worth the money.
Let's sum up: lots of screens, but they're too small. Music too loud. Food is below average. Weak beer selection. It wasn't a bad experience, just not worth going to. Skip it.
The food at Luna is truly amazing. I've had the ham crepe and the turkey crepe, as well as several desserts. Both crepes were very tasty, but not overwhelming - they were both delicate and filling, which I honestly thought was an oxymoron. They blended light, just-right amounts of flavor, and are plenty big for lunch. And the desserts are wonderful - flavorful and sweet without being overpowering. And they're just the right size.
I will say that the staff could be more friendly. They are clearly hardworking people who want to deliver the best possible food, and they do that very well. But they could do a little more to be friendly and focus on making the customer feel welcome, so be forewarned. But the food is so darn good that I'm giving 5 stars anyway.
This place is excellent. The outdoor seating in Shaker Square has an excellent atmosphere, and they occasionally have musicians playing in the outdoor patio. The drinks are delicious. The food is tasty, and if you pick something spicy they don't mind giving it a little kick (which is tough to find in the Midwest). The servers are polite and friendly - not over-the-top, but available when you need them and invisible when you don't need them. I will definitely be going back.
I thought I had pulled the short straw when I was assigned to work in Akron, OH, but it was totally worth it - thanks to the Lockview! I swing by here every time I'm in the area. The gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches are AWESOME. And there's a lot of variety (~14 sandwiches) - you can order a different grilled cheese every time and never get tired of them. The beer selection is excellent - possibly the best in Ohio. And the secret ingredient that makes this one of my favorite restaurants in the nation is the sweet potato fries. Seriously, if you haven't had the Lockview's sweet potato fries, you have no idea what you're missing.
TJ's is great. They have a very good route down the Rock river, which is a nice area with lots of fish if you're into fishing. It's not too far from Chicago either, so it's good for a quick weekend trip. As for TJ's they have pretty reasonable rental rates, and they're very responsive to their customers' needs. They picked us up an hour early to save us from a torrential thunderstorm, which was much appreciated. They also have a good little shop with rod rentals, lure, and fishing licenses. We've rented from them twice and I definitely recommend them.
Awesome place. Great for watching a game, but not a sports bar. Excellent beer selection - not the largest I've seen, but definitely a large selection of beers, and (this is critical) the beer menu is well laid-out and easy to understand. And they list ABV! Bonus points. The food is top-notch as well - the mussels are awesome, mac & cheese to die for, and the burgers and sandwiches are consistently excellent.
I visit Cleveland regularly, and I've been to this Melt twice. I have been delighted both times and will definitely insist on going back every time I'm in town.
The sandwiches are to die for. Yes, there's a lot of bread, but the bread and fillings are excellent. I mean, they have lasagna in a sandwich - crazy and delicious. Or how about a bacon-egg-and-cheese sandwich? And the portions are huge - plan on taking half of your sandwich home for an awesome leftovers meal.
The beer selection is great. Not phenomenal, but definitely worth writing home about. They've got lots of beer on tap (at least 23 if memory serves) and some really great big names on tap (Rogue Dead Guy Ale! Stone Arrogant Bastard!), as well as a big list of bottles.
And if you ask me, the huge number of seat-yourself bar seats is a big plus. Both times we have been able to seat ourselves immediately right at the bar. Sitting at the bar is great here - easy access to the beers, three TVs per side, and honestly a little more intimate and conversation-friendly than tables.
Definitely give it a shot, but if you can do a late lunch or early dinner (2-4 PM) - the place fills up fast at peak hours.
