there is nothing special about this place. The good doesn't do that much for me. But, I am thinking it's just me because when this place is open for lunch it's packed!
I must say though I live be the rule if you go and eat at an ethnic place and there is no one of that ethnicity eating there that should give you a very good indication about that place.
This is one of those places.
The food here is not that great. Or maybe it was because it seemed that my waitress was on something.
Among other things, our waitress asked if we wanted something drink so only took one person's order. He said water, she said "ok" and left. I guess the the rest of us don't need a nice beverage. I realize that the service could be a solo event so let me talk about the food.
I ordered the carne asada and it was terrible. It was rubbery and burnt on the outside. It tasted like salt was the only ingredient in the marinade. It didn't seem like anyone else at my table enjoyed their food either. there was over half the order left on everyone's plate and no one was asking for a to-go box. When I asked how everyone's food was it was met with an unenthusiastic "eh".
All in all, if you're looking for something eat after you leave the Angelika or are in the neighbor hood. I'd say keep walking/driving. You're not missing anything buy skipping this one.
This is a fancy Chinese/Asian Restaurant. You will get full off their food but 30 minutes later you are hungry again. But seriously, the amount of money you spend at this place is really just for the view. The food was not that great or maybe what I ordered wasn't that great. Lo-Mien is Lo-Mien, Fried Rice is Fried Rice. It doesn't matter what you do to it, it's not worth that price. I would recommend you go to the mini Chinatown in Richardson and order a ton of dishes that will hit the spot and save you a boat load of money.
The service was great. We had two servers and they would check up on us from time to time. They were always there to fill our drinks and to ask if we needed anything, but it never felt like they were hounding us. Like ninjas they would pop out of nowhere to help out and disappear.
I will have to say that the view is awesome, but overall I dont think its worth the price of admission. I'd say go if you have guests that never been to Dallas and have a couple hundos to spend. Otherwise I say this one is a pass.
Surinder is wonderful! She was a good sport in doing henna on the lower back of my brother-in-law and cousin when they bet against the MAVS in the NBA finals! We had a lot of fun that day putting a DIRKalicous and MAVStastic with hearts and flowers on them.
She did a real henna tattoo on my older sister and other cousin that came out wonderful!
Bad news/Good news though, I think lower back tattoos will be incorporated in many of my future bets.
Really? this place is way over hyped! How in the world do you drop so much money on such little food. Especially when right around the block there is better dim sum and 1/3 the price!
I really think its just people saying look at this posh place and watch me drop my life savings down the poop shoot. It was good but my wallet is much much thinner after the meal than before.
I say go there if your money is buring holes in your pockets.
I have wonderful dreams about this place!!!! Its so good and yet so unhealthy! I love you and hate you oh so much. I would run from Dallas to Austin to eat there... okay maybe not run all the way, more like from the car to the order window.
If your a health nut, i am going to say 90% not your thing. But if your like everyone else, Thank you sir, may I have another?!
The first time i went there it was good. The second time i went there it was still good. So, am pretty sure the next time i will go there it will be good. ha-HA!
My only complaint is that the last time i was there i ordered the chicken fried chicken, and it was about as thick as a sheet of paper. In other words, all bread no chicken. I told the Manager about it, he apologized and they made me another one that was 1,000% thicker that the first one. What worries me is that he said "Sorry, its hit or miss sometimes with the chicken fried chicken or the chicken friend steak, they come to us like that from our distributor." Well, sir, if its hit or miss you should either tell your distributor or not cook and serve the thin ones to your customers.
