What a nice, friendly place with good food and long lines. Besides the hot food and sandwich counter, there is also a meat counter, wine, and various other food stuffs. It is a great place to pick up a few things to take home, unless you are lucky enough to sit at one of the tables.
I ordered the prime rib dinner with green beans and salad. It was excellent, and I had enough food to last 2 days. Well worth the wait in line in this neighborhood hangout and family business. Besides the meat and salad, they are also known for their pasta.
I'll definitely be coming back again.
Stumbled across this restaurant on a shopping expedition. Looked welcoming, so we went in and did not realize the wonderfulness that awaited. Food was great, people were nice. The waiters had to come back a few times to take our order because I couldn't make up my mind what to order. They even tried to help. In the end, we got a lot of food and would definitely come back. What a little gem.
What an amazing find! Easy to check-in and check-out. Very friendly staff. Room was clean, large, had a refrigerator and microwave. Many channels on the television and good reception. Free wi-fi. Pet friendly at a good price. I'm glad more people haven't found this little gem.
I liked that it was quiet and on the other side of the freeway and Hilltop. You definitely need to have your own transportation to get here and to go places within driving distance. Loved that there was a book in the room that had places to eat and that you could actually take the recommendation page with you.
Can't beat the free breakfast at Lumberjacks. If you don't like what they offered you could get a discount on the regular menu. The only drawback is that you have to drive to the restaurant, but directions are provided. And this is a hotel that caters to people with transportation.
I will definitely stay here again the next time I go through town.
What a nice restaurant. The servers were pleasant and I didn't feel rushed at all. The food is fine though we did order one of the fake chicken dishes, and the chicken was a bit salty. Otherwise, everything is else tasted wonderful. I would definitely go back again.
Just had a pleasant 1-night stay here. Very easy to get to as there is a tube station & overground station about 2 blocks away. There are also many bus stops. The C1 bus stop is around the corner which takes you down to Harrod's and pass the Earl's Court tube station which has elevator access to the Piccadilly line to Heathrow.
The desk staff were great. After getting to my room, I received a call asking if the room was fine and if I needed anything. So nice. The staff in the lobby bar are great too. I asked what red wines they had, and they went out of their way to show me all the bottles. I ended up having wine with a sandwich I had bought outside of the hotel. Otherwise, they do have small bites too. If you want breakfast, definitely purchase the discounted rate upon check-in. It is worth it.
As others have mentioned, the rooms are small, but clean. I took advantage of the electric kettle. I was a bit confused as to the floor layout since it is a square, but the hotel is small with only about 9 floors (I think).
The hotel does cater to the business traveler and I think get a lot of repeat business from these travelers. I wish there was free internet in the lobby. The location is good, with a cinema and Westfield Mall about 2 blocks away. There is also a local pub across the street and down a short alley. There are also free newspapers in the lobby. Would definitely stay here again for short stays.
Though this hotel is a little ways out of the city center, once at the hotel you are in comfort. The hotel staff are great, the rooms clean and rather large, and family friendly. I was surprised by how easy check-in was. I was even asked whether I wanted to use the free internet access either in the lobby or in my room. The closest overground train station is about 2 blocks away, a bus stop going towards the Arch is about 1 block away, and the nearest tube station is about 4 blocks away. The hotel is family friendly with an Xbox in the bottom lobby for all to use, many computers in the lobby to use, 2 restaurants, and a bar. It looked like they are still in the midst of a remodel and they are currently next door to a construction site. I don't recommend the breakfast, but dinner was good. The room was larger and more than I expected, and had a refrigerator and luggage rack. The hotel definitely caters to groups.
I don't think it is safe to walk around the neighborhood towards the Eiffel Tower, but taking taxi's to your destination is reasonable. For example, it was about 15 euros from the hotel to the Gare du Nord. I would definitely stay at this hotel again unless I could get the same rate and free internet at a hotel closer to the tourist areas.
Recently stayed at this Holiday Inn, which I think is still in the process of trying to upgrade themselves from a 3-star to a 4-star hotel. I can't say enough about the friendly staff. Everyone I talked to was pleasant and helpful. You can't beat the location. Gloucester Tube is about 1 block away, and has 3 lines to service you all over the city. Earl's Court is a few blocks away and is great if you have heavy luggage. Would not recommend the Picadilly Line, getting off at Gloucester, going to the hotel as there are a lot of stairs to get to the elevator to get out.
My only complaint is that there is no clock/alarm in the room, and the tub/shower is high to step in and out. Otherwise, it is a safe neighborhood, you need to use your hotel key to use the elevator, and lots of stores nearby - grocery, restaurants - that stay open late. The hotel has a restaurant and a bar.
Not sure if I would stay here again due to the expensive internet prices, which I refused to pay. You can get 2 hours free if you spend 20 pounds in the restaurant. I expected to have free wifi in the lobby at least, but no such luck. But everything was clean, free newspapers, and it was nice to stay for 5 nights with a helpful staff.
The desserts in this shop are to die for. I wish I could have tried them all on my 1st visit, but I am glad the friendly and helpful staff had the patience to recommend their favorites to my 2 friends and I.
As others have said, the macarons are full of color and taste. These will definitely get me to come back again, but the other desserts are great too. They may not all be to everyone's liking, but there is definitely something for everyone.
I am also glad they serve Le Palais des Thes and not just expresso drinks.
When going in, don't forget to look at the wonderful products on the shelves. The prices are a bit expensive, but knowing that they are made locally makes all the difference. And it is a special treat to stop here while shopping.
I'll definitely be going back again.
First time going to Milk+ since I had a Bloomspot coupon. I work in the FiDi, and was looking for a nail salon that was easy to get to. The Muni 1 bus stops directly in front of the salon. And Mollie Stone's is a few blocks away.
The salon just opened a few months ago, and it is nice to be in a place of business that takes pride in their cleanliness. The space is open, bright, and friendly. Everything has its place. The women who work here are friendly and pleasant. I didn't know what to expect and was glad that I was given the time to choose a nail color and allowed to just sit and let it dry, without being rushed.
I only got a pedi, but should have added a mani. Next time.
Good thing to know is that tips are only in cash.
First time staying at Cowslip's and I hope not my last. My stay was enjoyable and relaxing; made even more so by the great hospitality of the hosts. Chatting over breakfast with the hosts and other guests is a highlight as is taking advantage of the wonderful decks and grounds of the B&B. You definitely can't go wrong by staying here.
