We took our dog Misty to the Los Olivos Pet Grooming shop this morning for the first time and are very pleased with her hair cut. She looks like a new dog and obviously feels a lot better with all that fur gone. Regina was pleasant and business-like, obviously a very hard worker, and her prices are reasonable. The dogs were being treated very kindly and its apparent a lot of people in the area take their dogs here. We're so grateful to Solvang Vet for telling us about Los Olivos Pet Grooming.
Recently purchased a twin futon from Big City Futon and we are very happy with our custom made futon. We had to pay in advance and wait nearly 2 weeks since apparently twin futons are not much in demand and not kept in stock but the futon arrived within the 2-week period given. It's nicely made with a thick zippered cover and feels very well stuffed, perfect for the purpose we wanted it. We're very happy.
We were really disappointed in this place. The menu was interesting and the lady at the counter was very pleasant. But the prices were outrageous. I spent $7.40 and received a few cooked cold peppers, onions, and eggplant covered in olive oil. I doubt the whole meal would have filled half a cup. A small amount of white bread was also provided. I was really angered to spend that amount of money for so liittle food.
The food is quite tasty at California Taco which newly opened up. They have a website and you can order your meal from there and go to pick it up. Didn't work when I tried it. Also you can text your order in. That also did not work when I tried it. The tortillas are homemade and exceptionally good - the tortillas are the big draw for this place. They give you the taco with the meat selection and then you go to the salsa bar and add what you want. The burritos fall apart easily so I recommend eating them with a fork. The salsas don't taste as good as what is at Taco Roco but the tacos are better. If only we could combine both places! The downside to California Taco is the prices are really high. A burrito for $7? Add tax and a drink and you're looking at over $10 bucks. And they're difficult to eat as well. I think California Taco will be really successful but I won't be going often - I just can't afford it.
I needed to repair an existing retaining wall and after a very difficult experience with another landscape company, I looked in the local phone book and found Alpha Landscape about which I knew nothing nor had I ever heard of them. However, I called and the phone was promply answered by the owner, Neal Burgess. We arranged a time for him to come out to look at the work that that needed to be done and he arrived promptly. After a day or two a reasonable estimate arrived by email and then a contract by snail mail for me to sign. He wrote out a detailed estimate which I appreciated as it was something I could not get from the previous contractor. I had a time span of two weeks in which I needed the work done and he was able to accommodate that. Neal was great to work with and flexible when changes occurred. Shortly after starting the project I realized I needed more work done than I had anticipated and he was able to do it within the original timeframe. Neal was a pleasure to work with, very accommodating with changes and flexible, always pleasant even though it was evident he was juggling many other jobs. I will definitely use this Company again in the future. It was such a pleasure working with this Company; I didn't feel I was put on the back burner until other, more lucurative jobs, were done. He gave me a contract. He gave me a start and finish date. The work was done as promised and he was flexible with additional changes that came up. Definitely hire this company!
We parked briefly in the alley behind this establishment in order to sweep a handful of potting mix (literally) out of the bed of our pick-up onto the asphalt of the alley before driving into the car wash. An Indian/Pakistani appearing male from inside Santa Ynez Valley Water Gardens, in his 30's, suddenly started screaming at us from about 40 feet away inside the store and threatened to call the police. I don't know what this guy's problem was and quickly drove into the car wash as he continued to yell. I will never give any business to this store after this bizarre event (although I was a customer in the past) and I am encouraging my neighbors and friends to stay clear of them as well.
Marcy McFee, MA., L.Ac. who operates the Valley Clinic of Oriental Medicine is very professional and well versed in all manner of homeopathic approaches to health as well as acupuncture. This office is located in a quiet area and tastefully decorated in an Asian motif. Ms. McFee is very kind and knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and sincere about helping those who come to her. I found her extremely thoughtful as she sought to address my issues and she seemed genuinely interested in my welfare and tried very hard to do the acupuncture in such a way as to most benefit me. I would certainly recommend her to anyone who was considering acupuncture or exploring homeopathic options to their health needs. The only downside to the Valley Clinic of Oriental Medicine is that Ms. McFee did not take my health insurance, as it paid too little, which was very understandable but inconvenient. A substantial senior discount is offered for seniors over 65 years old. This was my second experience with acupuncture and by far the most rewarding.
I won a gift certificate for a Swedish massage at A Blissful Place from Volunteers for Inter-Valley Animals (VIVA)'s Christmas raffle. Since I'd never had a Swedish massage I was curious as to how it would go. Driving back and forth on Mission Drive frequently between Santa Ynez and Buellton I had never noticed A Blissful Place although it is nearly in the middle of Solvang but in a newer building that had been empty for sometime. A Blissful Place is wondrously decorated and seems to be equipped with all manner of paraphernalia for spa-ing, plus manicures, pedicures, and an assortment of beautifying treatments of every variety. It's very upscale and would fit right in were it magically transported to Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. Iris Pavlov, the young massage therapist, immediately introduced herself when I walked in and after I filled out a short form she led me to a wood paneled massage room which was darkened with amber overhead lights, burning candles, with soft music playing. The room seemed warm which was initially a concern as I like to be cool but it wasn't a problem and I never got overheated. Iris carefully instructed me as to what to do and where to put everything. Soon the massage was underway and soon after that I was in heaven. Iris alternated with deep massages and laying hot towels over my body. Iris asked me how deep she should go. It was never uncomfortable. The gift certificate did not indicate how long the massage would last and I thought it would be for the shortest time which is 40 minutes but Iris said the gift certificate was good for a 60 minute massage which ended up being barely long enough to my way of thinking. I loved the fact that it was very quiet and it was easy to drift to another dimension.
Iris is a fantastic massage therapist who knows her craft; she's friendly and outgoing. Iris was very professional and didn't seem to mind a middle-aged client.
A Blissful Place was a happy experience and I am grateful to whoever it was who donated the gift certificate. Hopefully I can indulge in this experience again.
