We had one nice young woman help us check in. That was the end of the polite staff. Then the policing started right away, you can't even get settled before you are made to feel uncomfortable.
The next morning we were awoken at 4am by loud hammering (someone said it was the mill? I'm not sure). It's certainly not the fault of the KOA, but their location obviously isn't great. Later that morning my mother in law and niece stopped by to wish my son a happy birthday on their way out of town. They were not allowed in to say hello & told they must pay a $20 day pass in order to enter. They decided not to and just asked us to meet them in the parking lot for a quick hug. When we got there my mother in law told me that their staff was extremely rude to them for not paying the $20 day pass and then proceeded to watch them as they waited in the parking lot.
We were told that in leu of the birthday package to pay for day passes for our family in addition to our camping fees to celebrate our son's birthday since we are a smaller group. We were the third birthday that weekend. Our family members arrived and paid nearly $90 for day passes but unfortunately someone at the front desk made a mistake when my parents arrived, assuming they were a part of a different birthday party and my parents were admitted under that birthday party by mistake. During the old west shoot out an older woman with an accent (whom I later learned was the owner) rudely informed my parents that the wrist bands they had on were for a party that ended at 4pm and that they must leave immediately. She did this in the middle of the show in front of a huge group of people.
I explained to her that her staff made a mistake and that we should not be penalized for their mistake. My parents came expecting to pay their $30 day fee but when they didn't ask for their money and gave them the wrist bands my parents assumed I had already taken care of it. It was a simple mistake that was EASILY resolved and did not need to be a rude confrontation in front of a huge group of people in the middle of the show. This show was the entire reason I wanted to have my sons party here and to expect his grandparents to leave, miss their grandson's party and immediately fix their mistake was ridiculous. I let her know we would take care of all of this as soon as the show was over but trying to talk to her about it was ridiculous. She was extremely rude, argued with me, and interrupting me while I tried to talk to her about reasonably resolving this. We went down and took care of it and paid our day fees the moment the show was over. This woman's staff made a mistake and for her to rudely confront and blame us as though we were trying to cheat them out of payment is unacceptable. She was not at all interested in hearing her staff made a mistake, took no responsibility for it and did not offer any apology.
The movie night was a huge disturbance to those who chose not to watch the movie. It was blaring loudly throughout the property far past their 10pm noise curfew. It is unreasonable to hear the audio of a movie yards away as though it is right in front of you.
Their strict limitations such as 6 people per site (the largest space available), two tents per site only, etc, etc. are unreasonable and rudely enforced. These rules are in place purely to maximize income which makes sense from a business stand point, but is extremely off putting to the customers especially when it is clear that the quality of the stay is of no concern.
I did not enjoy my stay, my family did not enjoy their stay. The tent camp sites are awkwardly close to one another, their "go-cart police" circulate constantly making it uncomfortable. At the end of our stay before checkout time one of these go-carts came speeding down to our site demanding to see our wrist bands, to which I told her we are packing up and leaving. We seriously could not pack up and get the hell out of there fast enough for them. I did not appreciate being treated as though I am trying to somehow cheat them when myself and my family ended up spending upwards of $250 for two nights stay, day passes and purchases at their store.
I have heard such wonderful things about camping at a KOA and unfortunately this experience has left me with such a bad taste in my mouth. I will not return to this KOA and neither will any of my family. Their focus is not on family fun and they apparently do not care about the quality of a customer's stay. This was like camping meets Chuck E. Cheese, but at least at Chuck E. Cheese you get ripped off with a smile and good customer service. If I am expected to pay out the nose for a camping trip the service had better meet a minimum standard for that price! The owners say on the KOA site 'Enter as strangers leave as friends'. I'm not sure what their definition of "friends" is but this is not how you treat your customers let alone friends. We came excited and left hugely disappointed.
I really enjoyed myself. Very relaxing. Awesome, courteous staff. But what gives a 4 star instead of 5 is that I found the tub to actually be slightly uncomfortable. There were a lot of hard places in the tub. I whacked my ankle on a hard spot on the bottom. I guess it's to define the seats but I had a slightly hard time getting comfortable.
We went to brunch here with my family while visiting the area and it was ridiculous how long we had to wait to be seated. This place is so poorly organized. We had a large group and ended up waiting upwards of an HOUR to be seated. No one seemed to realize our group was there waiting. We were asked by 3 or 4 different people if we were waiting, how many people, etc. We were constantly repeating ourselves. They have many small booths but as for any other seating for a large group, forget it. Prepare to wait forever. The thing that was really frustrating was was when we first got there they told us it wouldn't be a long wait. There were smaller groups that came in after us, were seated, finished, paid for their meal and left before we were even seated. Had they pushed some tables together or combined a table with a booth we would not have had to wait so long but they kept seating small groups in those spots and made us wait for the one large table they had. And after waiting forever the food was only mediocre. I will never eat here again.
We have needed a good BBQ joint in this area and finally it's been done right! I thought the food was all extremely flavorful, not greasy like other BBQ places we had in the area. They seems to be pretty on top of their service, keeping things moving at a good pace especially for as busy as they have been since they opened. I really enjoyed the baby back ribs, my husband's brisket was very good. Everything that was ordered in our group looked delicious and fresh and everyone was very satisfied with their meal. What more could you ask for?!
We called ahead to check the wait, which we were told was 15 minutes on a Saturday night. They were busy but not over crowded. They got us to our booth in about 20-25 minutes. No big deal, our waiter took our order promptly. We then sat at our booth for an HOUR until our food was delivered.
I am not going to lie, the food was unacceptable.
My husband's steak and my ribs were luke warm at best. My baked potato was not even hot enough to melt the butter on it. My little boy's steak was delivered to us not only still VERY pink after asking for well done, but literally cold as well as my two daughter's dishes. We ordered a side of steamed broccoli, which was also cold to the touch. The sad thing is you can tell the food had potential, if only served at an edible temperature.
The server we had is the ONLY thing keeping this review from being a 1 star. He was attentive during our hour long wait for food, checking in on us regularly. When we told him our food was cold, he offered to have it heated up (I'm assuming microwaved). Since we had already been there for an hour and a half with tired, hungry children, we declined not wanting to wait an additional god knows how long.
He apologized and comped all 3 of our kids meals and gave us an additional $20 off our bill. We left him a generous tip since he was the only decent part of the meal. He told us there were many unhappy customers that night due to the kitchen "getting behind." Sounds like they should find new kitchen staff and give their servers a raise.
The fish tacos are amazing, excellent guacamole. They are pretty speedy and the place is very clean. The only negative I would say is that I feel it's a bit on the expensive side especially if you want a lemonade with your drink instead of a soda.
Perfect place to go on a date or a night out with your friends. I love that we can go, relax, and enjoy delicious food with great service. Yes, it's a bit pricy but the food and service make it worth it considering it's a higher end restaurant. While they take to kids very well, I would not want to bring my younger children here. This is the type of place you want to enjoy a nice night with other adults.
Purple Rose food is more of an American version of Mexican food, not authentic, but the food is still good. The chili relleno is amazing, and I also like the sour cream enchiladas. I only give a 3 star because I don't think the wait staff is very good, rarely do you see a smile on anyone's face. Also, they serve their food on scalding hot plates (even to children) which I feel is totally unnecessary. I burned myself when I accidentally bumped the plate reaching for a chip. If you are eating there with children, I recommend you ask for them not to serve the children's food on a hot plate when you order.
I normally really like subway, but today was so grossed out by how dirty it was. Yes, I understand that they are trying to make the sandwiches fast, but speed should not come before sanitation. Not only was there food and sauces everywhere, they were all cross contaminated in each different container. I even heard one of the workers complain to another about how dirty he had the work station.
