Alt-Berliner Gasthaus Dicker Engel

Ich war mit meinem Kollegen auf der Durchreise hier essen und muss sagen sehr gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis

Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und Man kann wenn man weiter hinten sitzt sogar in die offene Küche schauen wie die Speisen zubereitet werden

Walked in, after walking around Berlin all day. We were told they are full with a wait list better to come back in an hour. (There were open tables) asked to sit at the bar to order and was told the kitchen is full too. No room. Came here because of a locals recommendation...ignored the other bad reviews because of that...should've trusted the reviews.

They were crowded, fun, we sat right away and got great beer and awesome food. Bonus, they had live music on a Tuesday night!

What a fantastic place! Cheap German cuisine in the heart of Moabit. Nice service, chill outdoor terrace, huge beers and the tastiest Schnitzel. They have at least 10 different types named by the different Berlin's neighborhoods - cool, right? Big portion which is always very much appreciated. Also some vegetarian options. Only downturn: food took forever.

We really loved our dinner at Dicker Engel. We visited based on reviews that we read and the fact that it was nearby to where we were staying. The restaurant is very close to the U Birkenstraße stop. There were a lot of locals having a drink and chatting when we arrived. They have an English menu and a lot of great authentic German choices. I had a question about one of the dishes and the waiter actually called the chef out of the kitchen to explain it to me which was great! We ordered the pork knee, the potato pancake and the leek pancake. The portions are HUGE and this proved to be too much food for us but we did our best. :) The waitress was friendly and helpful from start to finish and we couldn't have been more pleased with the service. We 100% recommend trying this place out when you visit Berlin!

Like the dicker Engel that it named, the meal was big! But we could enjoy traditional German foods and we can enjoy it!!!

Now, don't get a wrong impression, this is not a cuisine temple but a typical Berliner Gaststätte. But as such, it delivers. Most of the classical dishes are on the menu, quality and service are okay, location is rather nice. I quite like it.
