Berni's Nudelbrett

So tonight's dinner was a combination of Italian and Pizza. Yes I know pizza is Italian but it's not. LOL. Anyway, girlfriend got the lasagna bolognese while I got their version of a Hawaiian pizza and we shared. I will admit I almost stole her lasagna. OMG it was so good. I've had the girlfriend's lasagna and well hers has now fallen to number 2 on my list. LOL. The pizza was a typical Italian/ German style pizza that was really good as well. I still have several pizza places in the US that are better but man the pizza in Germany is just different and tastes really good.

Inside is beautiful. I truly cannot believe how gorgeous this place is.

The service was on point. The wait staff here takes care of the customers.

We were visiting Munich from America in mid-October 2023. There was some confusion with the menu as we thought (incorrectly) that by ordering the 3 pasta selections we would be able to select our own kinds of pasta. Of course, our language barrier didn't help the situation and we were served the 3 pasta selections plus 3 large bowls of what were the choices we thought we had made. We just wanted to share a little pasta and not receive individual large bowls. I spoke with Dani who was the manager of the restaurant and she was very nice and decided to only charge us for half which we agreed to. She came back later and decided to not charge us at all for the three additional bowls. This was beyond what she needed to do. She was very pleasant and professional and she donated the extra pasta dishes to her workers.
BTW, the pasta was delicious and al dente which is how it is supposed to be. Don't hesitate to eat here if you are looking for some real pasta in Munich. Thank you Dani for being understanding and professional. She's a keeper!

Terrible food to go along with the terrible service. Should have known when our server couldn't get our drink order right (one of the water). Had bruschetta and buffalo mozzarella apps. The buffalo mozzarella came with steak tomatoes and the generic olive oil. Awful. Didn't even bother to order to order dinner. Went to another restaurant around the corner and they had great food.

Amazing food, great wait staff!! Dani and Carlo were super friendly and a joy to talk to. Get the Caprese salad!

Turkey salad- fresh tasted like chicken with a light honey mustard dressing

Vegetarian pizza was delicious fresh vegetables zucchini crust was thin and tasted as good as pizza in Italy

We dined outside on a quaint cobblestone alleyway got to people watch

Beer was tasty good atmosphere good prices

On our flight to Germany we met a very nice man on the plane that recommended this place for pizza. He said it was one of the best pizzas he had ever had in his life. This being said, and being an avid pizza lover, I had to see for myself.

I would not say it was the best pizza of my life but it was PRETTY DAMN GOOD. This was over two years ago, so I wish I could share details about it, but all I know is that I still think about it to this day. A friend was just in Munich for Oktoberfest and I told him to go in and have a pie for me.
Get the margherita, its simple, classic and from what I remember, delicious.

From the street you can t see the size. But inside, it is a huge Italian dining area. Lots of Chianti and laughter and pasta. Everything is ala carte. I added bread and olives. Very prompt and friendly. Near the big shopping area.

So, I decided to visit a restaurant in Munich's high tourist zone. Unfortunately it could've been better.

First of all the service was fine. The waiter gave us sufficient attention and remembered our order without even writing it down which is impressive!

Now to the food, I ordered the Filet Steak which came with a salad and fries. The steak was unfortunately overdone, I ordered it medium and the only medium was the absolute core which was very lightly pink, which means Well Done for me. The general flavor of the steak was lacking, featuring no flavor experience. The texture of it was also quite dry. The herb butter that came with the steak was hard, most likely due to it coming from the fridge or freezer.

The salad was simply overdressed with too much dressing being placed on the salad overpowering everything in the bowl. The vegetables were fresh though.

The atmosphere is very open and inviting, featuring a high ceiling and lots of space. Plenty of Windows give a wonderful view on the Viktualienmarkt below.

All in all I was disappointed in general with the food that I had, and I'm sure it could be made a lot better.

Atmosphere - 3 stars (felt rushed by the host and waitress slightly annoyed by our asking for English menu.

Service - 3 stars as per above

Food - 4 stars i had lasagna. It was very good. Not the best I've ever had but better than average, no doubt.

Price - 2 stars. 27,05 euro for 2 entrees, a coke, and a cappuccino. The coke was 4,30 euro yikes!

Great Italian place with an Italian chef. The appetizers are amazing, main course is OK, but the dessert is what threw me over. This place does amazing desserts. Worth a stop and plan to stay awhile listening to the bells. Great for GF, vegan, and other specific diet requirements.
