Blue Nile 1

In äusserst unregelmässigen Abständen, schaffe ich es immer wieder hier ins BlueNile, im Herzen von Schwabing, zwischen Englischem Garten und der Leopoldstrasse.
Gestern war es wieder nach gefühlt 1 1/2 Jahren soweit, dass es mich hier hereinspülte!
Eine gute Freundin hatte die gute Idee, hier auf ein Abendessen vorbeizuschauen und reservierte auch.

Das mit der Reservierung ist immer so eine Sache, kann funktionieren, muss aber nicht, wie ich immer wieder erlebe. Ebenso war es gestern, zur vereinbarten Zeit, betrat ich das Lokal, alle Tische bis auf den letzten Stuhl besetzt, nur der Tisch ganz vorne am Fenster war noch frei.
Die Wirtin/Serviceleiterin kam auf mich zu und fragte mich, ob ich reserviert hatte, mit meiner Antwort, ja natürlich auf den Namen xy. Ihr Blick verriet mir, dass sie den Namen irgendwie nicht auf dem Schirm hatte und Ihre weitere Frage lautete für wieviel Personen. Wieder ein Blick, wie der eines Reh´s im Scheinwerferlicht und dem Kommentar, moment ich komme gleich wieder.

Und nun stand ich da und wartete, nutzte die Zeit, mal ein paar Berichte über das Lokal zu lesen. Noch immer Stand ich da, mitten im Lokal, aber keiner wollte mir weiterhelfen. Nundenn, ganz hinter in Richtung Bar durchkämpfen und nochmal nachfragen, wo mir dann notnagelmässig der Tisch am vorderen Fenster zugewiesen wurde.

Platz genommen, Karten bekommen und wir suchten die Speisen aus.
Leider kam dann einige Zeit wieder niemand, der uns bediente bzw. die Bestellung aufgenommen hat!
Erst nachdem wir uns mehrfach bemerkbar gemacht hatten, kam die Chefin und nahm unsere Bestellung auf.
Vorspeisenkombination und verschiedene Hauptspeisen, mit Huhn oder vegetarisch.
Hierzu kann ich nur sagen, die Qualität ist hervorragend, äusserst geschmackvoll und genial gewürzt. Alles natürlich mit ausreichend Brot serviert, die Vorspeise sogar mit Gabeln.

Am Ende zum Zahlen, war es wieder schwieriger, jemand an den Tisch zu bekommen, sondern wir gingen einfach Richtung Bar und zahlten dort.

Bin ehrlich hin und hergerissen und das Essen wertet die Bewertung schon sehr auf, ansonsten würde ich für den Service nur 2-3 Sterne geben.

This restaurant was located right next door and so it was rather obvious that we would give it a try as the thought of trying something new always excited us.

But frankly the restaurant wasn't upto my expectation. Partly because I was hoping to try something new! Ethiopian food quite surprisingly was very similar to indian cuisine, particularly south indian cuisine. Injera is very similar to South Indian Dosa albeit a bit sour. We tried sambusa and begwot (the spicy variety) but both the items didn't excite me at all. Sambusa is similar to any chinese spring roll minus the vegetables while begwot felt like eating lamb with dosa. I didn't find it spicy but the preparation was very similar to my home-made lamb curry.

I must point out that this was a very personal experience and other fellow foodies might love this food as it brings with it a new eating experience (eating with hands) and a new taste.

i wish there was a "0" rating possibility to rate this resturant. this was the worst worst resturant i have ever been so far. starting with the greeting and the time we received the menu - totally unacceptable - it took them a total of 45 minutes to take our orders, and another hour and 20 minutes to bring out the food we ordered - keep in mind, we were just two people. we don't want to talk about the food in full detail and rather leave it with the following comments "horrible, terrible, really really bad and unvershamt schlect".
the worst part of all is the fact that the people running this business including the individuals worki don't even realize they are really doing bad. we are not new to ethiopian food so we have our expectations how authentic ethiopian food looks and tests like, and we were sorry for the people who were there for the first time.
overall. we would not take time to write this review if this restaurant wasn't as bad as we'd experienced it, and wanted to give people fair warning before going there. on top all the waitress wants only accep cash so people were forced to go out and look for atm and come back to pay; we don't what kind of crooked business they do, to steal money or to avoid paying taxes.... god knows. the best of all things is the question they ask before removing the leftover food " hat es ihnen geschmect" something like did you like the food? we just kept quiet and commented hoping they would take our silence as "get the f out of my face before i start ranting how bad you are...for us the blue nile chapter is closed ones for all. never again!!!

I like eating Ethiopian and the social way of eating which comes with it. The Blue Nile offers a good experience: delicious, packed, slow, loud, cosy and incomplicated.
