We came here for late breakfast due to good reviews on yelp. The place is nice, the weather made it possible to enjoy the sun outside which made the experience really nice.
The waiter was really nice, helped us with our choice and did a good job in general.
The food was ok, but the prices rose significantly since some of the other yelpers were there. I must say that for the price, the breakfast now is quite average. I consider paying 9 eur a bit steep for getting a few slices of salami and cheese with some butter. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but I could enjoy the same meal for half the price in the local bar. That's why I took a star here.
Te coffe was really good and we enjoyed the breakfast, but next time I would maybe just stop by for the coffee.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Annette B.Stockholm, Schweden3523519727. Mai 2014
There are two undoubtful benefits with Buchkantine - their fantastic tea (2,5 EUR) and that they show Tatort on Sundays at 20:00.
The price are about average and the whole spirit of the place is more like intellectual, so I am not say that's the place one would go everyday, but on Sundays at 20:00 - very nice place to be.
+ they have a summer terrase facing the Spree ; )Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sian S.Rom, Italien296205013. Jan. 2015
This place is great! They have a lovely menu and the food is awesome, I have fruit with yoghurt, a good size and fresh. Then I had a cheeseburger on gluten free bread, it was delicious perfectly cooked and well assembled. There are heaps of books everywhere as it doubles as a bookshop.
Great place to work or read from or just sit for a while and sip coffee or tea. There is the buzz of jabbering happy germans in the back around. Again no english menu but the wait staff speak english which is great.
I had two long black (Americana) coffees which were tasty.
I would have given 5 stars however the service was slightly slow and one of the staff was a little bit grumpy which was disappointing as its a really cool and chilled out place!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kristine F.Huntington Beach, Vereinigte Staaten31623245331. Jan. 2016
Unique shop that is half-bookstore, half coffee house. I ordered a pie and coffee, and both were delicious. It's looks like a great place to have dinner as well, with an extensive menu from appetizers to main plates to dessert.
There are different kinds of people here, from individuals, to couples, to girlfriends, to families. I like the patio seating outside too. It's a bit pricey for similar coffee shops in Berlin, but the offering is worth it, for a unique experience.
I took out a star because the service is terrible. They are short staffed and it could take 30 minutes or more for a waiter to accommodate you. I came here alone and was in no rush initially, but it got to the point that I had stayed so long at the place because I wasn't attended to immediately, and I can't even leave right away because they haven't given me my bill yet. Waiting is stressful when you get to a place relaxed, in the mid-afternoon, only to rush waitstaff because they are taking so long that you will miss your late night flight.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Ana K.Berlin257010331. I used to come here on Sunday evenings for Tatort. It is a lovely bar/cafe with fairly tasty food. There is nothing really special about it though, but for someone living not too far a way a good possibility for lunch, dinner or a coffee break.
The prices are above average for both food and beverages, considering other places in Moabit.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Grant T.San Francisco, Vereinigte Staaten21872424516. Dez. 2014
While visiting my friend in Berlin, he suggested we come here to eat as it's quite near his apartment and the food is good. So on a Saturday night after wandering around Berlin and its Christmas Markets, we stopped in for dinner. It's got quite a cosy atmosphere, and I instantly knew I was going to like the place.
The menu for dinner is fairly simple. There were a few specials, a couple of burgers, some flammkuchen, pastas, salads and soups. Nothing too elaborate, but everything sounded interesting and delicious. I had the braised beef cheek in wine and cherries and split it with my partner who ordered one of the flammkuchen with speck and onions. My friend ordered the soup and the gorgonzola pasta.
Everything was delicious. The beef was moist and flavorsome. The spatzle were amazing. The flammkuchen was really delicious. The pasta was great too. The flavors were spot on and really interesting. We even had some red German wine that went well with everything.
It was so good in fact, we went for brunch the next day. My partner and I ordered the massive brunch for two. It was two fried eggs with bacon, a basket of breads, cheeses, salmon, meats and pretty much everything you would want for brunch. We even ordered a bottle of the local bubbly. (And it was so good, we brought some home with us on the plane.) Breakfast was great.
The service wasn't amazing, but it wasn't terrible. Most everyone spoke English as well, so that made it a bit easier, although we never really had to worry as we had an amazing translator with us at almost all times.
I can't recommend this place enough. It's exactly what I want in a neighborhood restaurant, and I wish there was something similar near my place in London.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Marius M.Berlin15371114. Okt. 2015
Hot chocolate: 3.50
After Eight hot chocolate: 4.50
The difference between them? One comes with a mint leaf on the side. Nothing else. That's just ripping people off.
They could at least name it "hot chocolate with a leaf" or more realistic "disappointing hot chocolate".Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Elena S.Latham, Vereinigte Staaten19522713. Feb. 2014
Lieblingsbuchhandlung in Berlin! I love this place for it's quiet and it's friendly staff. I'm allowed to sit and work for as long as I please without being bothered by staff.

Perfect place to study. Has wifi. When the weather is good, the big leafy terrace on the river is beautiful. They provide blankets if it's chilly. Simple menu. Feta salad is yummy. Gatsby breakfast is very satisfying. Also the tea comes in a lovely big mug with rock sugar and a cookie. It's a bookstore too. People reading with a cup of coffee. Lots of families. There's a play area for kiddies. Staff is always kind. (maybe not so much the owner.) Nice to have in the neighborhood.
