Christopher S.Sparks, Vereinigte Staaten139321. Aug. 2016Just stopped in for a spontaneous bite to eat during a spontaneous trip to Glückstadt with my German lady friend. The restaurant looked nice both inside and out but the sun was shining so we opted to dine outside.
My friend suggested I try the Susländer Sauere Rippchen (short rips in a delicious gravy with some fried onions, side of green beans and perfectly cooked pan-fried potatoes with particularly tasty pieces of bacon). Wonderful! The fall-off-the-bone ribs had a wonderful crust and melt-in-your-mouth pork fat. Everything else was of equal quality. My friend had matjes which she enjoyed and we split a nice piece of cheese cake. Generous portions and very friendly service rounded off a wonderful visit to this restaurant in the sleepy town of Glückstadt. Worth the trip for this meal alone.

The house, built in the 17th century is in a very good condition and furnished in a maritime-antique style.

Aug. 2009Vorheriger BeitragDer kleine Heinrich ist ein tolles Restaurant, bei dem das Innere mit dem Äußeren des historischen Gebäudes perfekt harmoniert. Schiefe Böden mit Holzdielen, altes Fachwerk mit sichtbaren Balken und niedrigen Türrahmen, bei denen man den Kopf einziehen muss, um sich keine Beule zu holen. Was bei dem Dänen versäumt wurde ist hier stringent umgesetzt.
Das Essen ist gut es wird vorrangig norddeutsche Küche geboten.
Der Service ist ein wenig langsam und preislich liegt es oberhalb von dem Dänen. Die Qualität des Essens liegt aber auf gleichem Niveau.
Wenn man das historische Flair Glückstadts auch in kulinarischer Hinsicht genießen möchte, ist der kleine Heinrich die erste Wahl. Wenn man allerdings gut und günstiger norddeutsches Essen probieren möchte und das Ambiente icht so wichtig ist, dem sei der Däne empfohlen.
