El Tarascon

This is a gem in Bonn!!!! Size is plenty, we shared 300 gr Lomo El Tarascon. Flan is great as well!!!
We definitely will be back when we visit Bonn again!

I discovered this place whilst looking for dining options in Bonn and five of us decided to go here for dinner. It's quite popular and I am glad one of my colleagues booked as it was fully packed by the time we all arrived for dinner. It's located in the basement of the building and can be hard to spot. The sign is not very obvious and it does not look like a restaurant from the outside. It's reasonably big inside and probably seats 50-60 people. The decor is quite simple but nice.

The menu here is all about meat and they have a few veg options (mainly salad) and a couple of fish dishes. I did not see much pork or chicken in the menu at all. I ordered a 400g pepper steak medium rare and a chorizo starter. I also ordered a bottle of red for the table.

The steak was cooked to perfection and was quite peppery. The red chimichurri sauce that I ordered with the steak was divine and had a good kick to it. I really enjoyed the steak and the wine. For dessert I had the Flan with Dulce de Lece and it was excellent also.

Steak in Germany is not cheap and this place is no exception. The quality however is high and I would happily come here again any time for a good steak.

The actual food was fantastic, but the service was so poor it ruined the meal. I was served with a steak that was undercooked (ordered medium, recieved medium rare) and after asking the kitchen to correct the issue, the waitress came back to the table and claimed that because I spoke english, the medium I ordered was dofferent from a "German medium" even though my German partner originally ordered the steak for me. I do not reccomend this restaurant to those traveling to Germany for the first time and still learning the language. It is ashame my meal ended with me in tears.

A good argentinian restaurant with simple staples focussing heavily on beef. Service was friendly and informal - almost a family run feel to it - made for a pleasant experience. Food was good - simple, but well cooked. I had a chili con carne soup starter, which was nice and spicy, and a filet steak cooked rare (correctly) which was excellent.
I would go again and recommend to friends.
Go if you want a casual dinner in a friendly atmosphere and good simple food (especially beef).
Don't go if you're a vegetarian and want lots of choice, or want fine dining.
