      Wohl bekomms....

My strip loin steak with pepper sauce was divine accompanied by a local sour "gose" beer. While it was pouring rain during our visit I can imagine sunny days in the beer garden being quite pleasant. Everyone at our table seemed to enjoy their meals. It was pretty packed for lunch, reservations are essential.

We had a great time at the brewery restaurant. Our server was fantastic. The space is gigantic and funky with train station references. The beef is good but the Gose seems to be brewed for people who don't like Gose. It's as if all the style has been removed and it's just a slightly "salty" lager.

Excellent charcuterie or beer pairing snack.

People wanting an escape from the tourist-filled Innenstadt, can check out the Bayerischer Bahnhof Gasthaus & Gosebrauerei. Only a short walk or accessible bike ride away, the restaurant feels spacious and secluded with nice outdoor seating as well as a refurbished interior. The building itself was well-kept and historical, and I have no complaints about the beers (I had the vier kleine vom Brett/flight of four for 4,95€).

My average rating is the result of the quality of the food and the service. While I didn't have a full meal, the pommes frites I ordered were brought to me cold. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy when I went, and my order was simple and uncomplicated, so I don't see an excuse for this. In addition, the service left something to be desired: I had to call the waitress over to receive the check and then get change.

Three months after having been here, I still reminisce about their gose style beer and schnitzel. I've been on a two months long search at random craft breweries for any gose beer that come anywhere close to the ones here; sadly, my search has not been fruitful.

My friends and I had took the train to this station as our airbnb was a few blocks away. I looked online and this was highly recommended on TripAdvisor and Yelp. Boy, are we glad we went here! We stopped by for lunch, returned that same day for dinner and ordered pretty much the same things both times.

Their schnitzel is about the size of my face and it somehow got even bigger at dinner time. The schnitzel was super juicy and flavorful. The breading outside did not have any oily residue from the frying process, not sure how that is even possible. The bratwurst dish came with this amazing sauerkraut that we could not get enough of. We really wanted to order an extra side of it, but it's almost impossible to get anyone's attention after you've gotten your food and drinks. It could be that we sat in the biergarten and the servers don't pay too much attention to the area. Regardless, this was the best meal and beer I've had throughout my trip in Germany! I'm seriously contemplating making a trip back to Leipzig just for Bayerischer Bahnhof.

Bayerischer Bahnhof is a definite "must-do" in Leipzig! Located in Germany's oldest preserved train station, this was, for a long time, the only place to get Gose beer. A sour, salty beer full of stuff that very much breaks the Reinheitsgebot, Gose is now also produced by a number of American brewers.

While we came for the beer, the food was excellent, too. We chose to sit in the outside in the self-serve beer garden. Ordering was simple and the staff were pleasant enough by German standards. The Brotzeitteller was huge for the price and included a really delicious Mettwurst and soft Kartoffelbrot. The goulash was less impressive (tasty though a bit tough), but the accompanying Laugenknödel (basically dumplings made out of pretzel dough) were amazing.

A highly recommended non-touristy tourist destination!

What a great Central location! As the original home of the Gose style beer this was a must stop for us. It was encouraging to smell freshly brewed/brewing beer as soon as we walked in. The beers they offered were all top notch. A very happening location, so make sure to make reservations or go on off hours. We were fortunate to around 4pm and had no problem getting seated. The food was excellent, which was one of the reasons we were interested in this neighborhood. The ribs we ordered were perfectly seasoned, moist and fell right off of the bone. Definitely a great place to grab some food and a pint in Leipzig. A must visit for any beer lover as well.

We went for an early dinner on a Saturday, made a reservation online but we didn't need one. The outside of the building is lovely, a real photo op. The inside is spacious and nicely decorated. I really enjoyed the gose, a lighter beer but still a lot of sour and a little salty flavors. I had the sauerbraten which was good with a nice knodel and apple rotkohl. I had a few bites of the spareribs which were a little salty for me but cooked well and came with some nice fries.
Service was very friendly and quick (though the place was quite empty). I would highly recommend a gin and tonic with their local gin.
Also, they have a lot of inexpensive options in glassware if you're looking for a souvenir.

You can see everyone here saying it and it is true - if you visit Leipzig, you have to visit Bayerischer. Especially if you like gose (sour beer). If you live in Leipzig this place is a go to for classic German pub food and locally brewed beer. Recently it has become nearly impossible to get in without a reservation, so make sure you call early and make one. During the summer the backyard patio is really enjoyable, though it can be very busy and a fairly long wait for drinks and food. Overall a must visit for a traditional German brewery experience.

We booked a table for a business diner. Very warm welcome, perfect client service...
Atmosphere was fantastic due the fact we join on this location on monday. Later on there they played very smooth music. The gose beer and Radler should be a must have there. This beer is brewed privately = specialty of this restaurant
The Haxe and spare ribs plus pulled pork burger delicious. Bratwurstschnecke not recommendable also Käsespatzen cooked with too much fat.
