Komet

"Ah a bar that I've not yet visited in the Kiez" was what I was thinking as I walked through the door last Saturday.


"Oh it's that bar" is what I thought as soon as I got inside.


Indeed, I have been here before, and in many ways so have you if you experienced a few dive bars around the Reeperbahn. They're all pretty much the same. The general attributes of such a bar are:


- it's cheap
- kinda dirty looking
- you can smoke
- popular drinks are Astra beer and Mexicana shots
- they have a jukebox and decent music
- often (but not always) quite dark
- mostly everyone is hideously drunk


It can be a very good night out then!

I think if you'd had enough to drink, the right music is on, and you're not being chatting up by 50 year old 'musicians' who think it's too cool to have a job, then Komet is probably a good choice. I wasn't that drunk, and the music was being dictated by the private private host... I had no idea who that was, and it was 3am. Still, you could do a lot worse at this time of night on the Reeperbahn... it's free to get in!
