Pfannkuchenhaus Coenenmühle

This was an interesting experience. When I heard we had plans to go to a pancake house for dinner, I thought that it was a odd. But... it wasn't bad at all. Staff was very helpful and tended to our large group with ease. The outdoor seating was a huge plus, as were a bit loud and were able to enjoy the warm weather. They offer both sweet and savory pancakes, but their main pancakes are the savory. They have many options to add meats, potatoes, cheeses... and I went with the Cheese Pancake. It was a bit too much for me, regarding portion size, but it was pretty good.

Haus Coenenmühle is well known for its famous pancakes with a huge variety of different flavors. In summertime you can enjoy them while sitting in a nice little beer garden in the green. If the weather is less suitable you'll be seated inside an old fashioned restaurant area.
Personally, I prefer the classic pancake flavor. Also, there are pancakes available with Schnitzel, Geschnetzeltem (similar to Gyro) and many other.
If you're not sure about what to try, start out with the classic ones. Thereafter you can continue with all the other variations.

Came as a recommendation from a Cologne local and would highly recommend to anyone looking for good food with a unique story. We called to make a reservation and were pleasantly surprised that the gentleman who answered the phone spoke English. We arrived early and were allowed to select our seat since it was not a very busy night. We were given English menus which was a life saver for two Americans traveling in Germany not knowing the language. We placed our order and were extremely satisfied with the food after it arrived. The staff was also very friendly and the atmosphere of the restuarant was cozy.
