Restaurant Ludwigs

Ludwigs had some good German standards at a little above normal prices - to be expected in the tourist trap town of Fussen.

I had some poached Munchner Weiss Wurst and fries. One daughter had some cheese spaetzle with onions which was actually better than my Mom's. (Mom uses Swiss which I don't care for - sorry Mom). The other had some schnitzel and regular spaetzle. My son had a kid's hamburger and I can't recall what my wife ordered, something vegetarian-friendly.

Service was pretty decent on a busy night and despite some earlier reviews they do accept credit card at this point. Not the best I've ever had but good enough at the time. 3.5 rounds to 4.

I was seated immediately and the service was great. Food took a little longer than what I have been accustomed to since I arrived in Vienna but it was still faster than USA. The sour cream is not the same as USA sour cream. The spare ribs were good.

Christmas Eve dinner. Nice place, good okay. Steak over cooked. Soup lukewarm, but tasty. We sat upstairs is was delightful. The service a bit slow due to the season. Would not choose the steak again, noodles were very tasty. Our server did well.

Its been 15 minutes and we have been ignored by every waiter despite half the tables being empty. So rude!

Food was good once things eventually got rolling.

Disappointing service. We were there on 24 Dec 21 for dinner, base on the recommendation of our hotel manager we made reservation for 7pm. When we arrived table was not ready, correct settings were not set, drink spillage from previous guest was not cleaned up. We did not mind waiting, we reminded a few times while waiting, they reluctantly set up the correct settings after a long while, but just refused to clean up the spillage. Food was average, steak came out incorrectly cook to the doneness we ordered and had a tinge of detergent taste, so we felt it was contaminated. We fed this back to the waiter, who took the steak back to the kitchen. Later he came back out and started arguing and insisting the steak was good and wanted us to pay for it. We responded by letting him know it was up to him to decide if he wanted to bill us, but if he decide to bill us he needs to return the piece of contaminated steak to us and we like to take it away with us. After many minutes, he came back out and said the steak was already trashed and he will not bill us. A very suspicious behaviour. We were the only Asian customer that evening, we felt the service was discriminating.

We ate at the Bavarian resturant in this hotel and had the schweinshaxe (pork knuckles) and maultasche (a kind of stuffed pasta). They were both very large - enough for 2 people each. I found the pork knuckles hard to get into. The skin was hard and meat on the chewy side. It tasted pretty good after I was able to wrestle some of the meat off with the small knife and fork that was provided. I'm thinking no more schweinshaxe for me.

As we wandered the tourist shopping district hunger overtook us. There is plenty of gelato and sweet treats to be found but we needed food.

Of the street side cafes and restaurants, there were few tables to be found on this busy afternoon. We grabbed one of these table but there only appeared to be one server. We wanted something quick so we had to get her attention. She finally came to us and we ordered immediately.

The food appeared quickly. It was very good and just what we wanted. When it was time to go, again it took several minutes to get a check at which point we were informed this is a cash only restaurant.

Plus side - good food; Negative side - fair service, no wifi (or wifi for hotel guests only) and cash only.

Ludwigs Restaurant has CASH SALES ONLY. No wifi password given unless you are a hotel guest. We stopped at Ludwigs Restaurant because other street cafes either did not have what we wanted to eat or the service was non-existent. It is located right in the middle of the main pedestrian walking street in Fussen Germany. Great people watching from the streetside table we sat at. The menu is very expansive and you can get lost trying to figure out what to eat LOL... I had the seasoned pan seared pork chops covered with French fried onion rings over a bed of their homemade cheese noodles. It was topped with a tasty cream sauce and served on a cast iron skillet. It was amazing. It was more than one can eat for sure. The food came out much quicker than we anticipated even though they were full. You can dine inside or outside.

We wandered about town trying to find a posted menu in English and came across Ludwigs. I ordered the cabbage/bacon pasta on their "Bavaria classics" page which was not very extraordinary, but I appreciated have a page full of local cuisine.
My travel companion had the pork medallions in a cream, cheese, and mushroom sauce. This was excellent! I would definitely recommend this dish, it's hearty and flavorful. Great with a big glass of beer.
The waitstaff we had spoke English and were nice. Please note though that it is CASH ONLY.

Unfriendly and impolite waiters, but waitresses are fine.
Food is ok but the preparation took too long. Furthermore, the dishes are slightly pricey.
If not necessary, pick some other restaurant.
