Sept. 2017Erster BeitragIt's always a bit of a culture shock visiting Wolfhagen, a tiny town in Hessen ... the Schiffchen is one of the traditional favourites here with the ubiquitous menu of schnitzel and other popular dishes. Not sure how they got their name and why the place is decorated in a kitsch nautical theme throughout - this is German hinterland, nowhere near the sea.
Their chips are probably the best in town - most dishes come with either pommes frites or croquettes and the former are by far the superior choice. Portions are massive!
Service was a bit haphazard on my most recent visit but all good in the end - one of the wines we ordered didn't actually exist and the replacement wasn't up to expectations, not sure if my main course should have been accompanied by a salad ... overall tasty enough though and certainly filling, a solid 3 start.
