Wirtshaus zum Schützenhof

Went here on a one night stop over from Greece to USA on our way home. A one stop train ride from the Hilton at airport and a short walk to restaurant. Had a great meal and the apple strudel and ice cream was over the top. Best part was our waiter who was good at his job and a pleasure to talk to.

A traditional German restaurant with big portions and great prices. Local speciality is Apfelwein and Schnitzels of all kinds. It's good to see that one restaurant in Kelsterbach keep up the german tradition, when so many others have been rewamped to Turkish or Italian. Staff is friendly and correct, on menu you can also order senior portions, which means smaller than standard. And Yes, you don't have to be senior to order them
And if u eat or drink !! To much they have rooms upstairs for 40€ to nap in for the night.

The restaurant was awesome! We were leaving from Frankfurt airport and only had to ride one train stop to make it here... the restaurant was closing soon but the host was very accommodating.

Amazingly disappointing service after hearing about how nice this place was supposed to be ... nice beer garden and restaurant, but the server was really good at letting us know we were not welcome. I'd take my euros elsewhere, this place seems to be doing just fine supported by the locals who joined her in pleasant conversation and easy camaraderie with her every visit to other tables... authentic German food: got it; typical German friendliness: sorely lacking this night/ maybe it was the heat/ maybe it's that we made a reservation on our hotels advice/ but her treatment made me glad to leave this patch of the European Union... so we agreed not to bother her with our presence longer than she felt we needed to, found someone else inside to help us pay our tab, and exited around the cold shoulder placed clearly in our path at the door.

We're from Louisiana, this was our first stop in Germany and was some of the best food and beer we had on the whole trip!! Service was awesome!! If I ever go back anywhere around this place, I'll go out of my way to stop at this restaurant again!
Paulner Munchen Dunkel beer is what we got

This was a place that we really looked forward to experiencing. We were in Frankfurt for a layover and made our way via train to this beautiful beer garden. However, server would not come to our table and when she did it was with a blank stare. She clearly didn't want us there and tried to take our menus away after we finally got our drinks. It's very sad that a beautiful restaurant has servers like this.
