This place is super cute and cozy! I loved all the decor inside. The server was very friendly, and we had a great time dining lunch here. The four of us shared 2 soups and 2 main dish (pork and duck) along with some German beers. Portions were plentiful for all of us! The soups were great yummy appetizers and the meat was flavorful and not dry at all! I've never had this local German dish before, and it was a great experience!

I was here while visiting Berlin and this place was decently close to the hostel I was staying at. I didn't have to wait to be seated and the staff had decent English. I got the duck and the apple strudel. I thought the duck turned out pretty good. It was well cooked and juicy with lots of flavor. I'm not sure what the sides were but those were decent as well, though nothing special. It seemed to be some sort of vegetable and potatoes. I also got the apple strudel for dessert and that was also decent. I think the sauce they had on it was good though. In terms of price, I thought it was a little pricey for Berlin's standards, but as a tourist from NYC it wasn't anything too shocking.

Ein feines restaurant. Die Haxn und gebratene Ente sind total bayernisch und wecken gute Erinnerungun von meiner Zeit in München. Alle Speisen sind mit angemessenen Preisen.

Came here while on a business trip pre-quarantine.
I felt so unwelcome as soon as I stepped in here. The staff gave me and my coworker (who is Indian) the dirtiest looks, were impatient with our poor German (which I get, maybe?), and wouldn't let us pick a seat even though the place was mostly empty.
Please don't come here if you are a POC or don't speak perfect German.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 156517. Feb. 2019
Best pork shank in Munich. More than just a meal, it's a Bavarian experience! Must go in Munich. Close to the glockenspiel.

EX-PATS DON'T COME HERE.
My friends and I came here and we were immediately stared down by the "welcome" staff. We were told there wouldn't be any space for the next two hours even though 1) it wasn't a busy day and 2) we saw an open, unreserved table in the back. Don't want to draw any conclusions but from the way they addressed us, the place didn't seem very welcoming of non-whites. In fact, one staff member literally shooed us out (hand motion and all) and walked us to the door.
Pity that this place is so rude - we tipped generously at the restaurant we ended up at.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Christina L.Vancouver, Vereinigte Staaten10411625230. Okt. 2017
This place is not hard to find, just follow your Google map. I got there at 5pm on a Sunday night, and I don't have to wait in line to get seated. As I was eating, there were more and more people trying to get in, so try to come early if you don't want to wait in line.
Most people would have ordered the baked pork knuckle, but I wanted to try to boil pork knuckle as I've been eating too much friend and baked food lately. The portion is huge!! I couldn't even finish half of it. This is more like a sharing portion to me. The pork knuckle is so tender that it just melts in your mouth. The potatoes are fresh and cook just right!
For all of you who wants to try local food, you MUST come!! The price is fair, food are locals and the atmosphere are just perfect.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Becca S.Brampton, Kanada182017. Mai 2018
My brother and I decided to have our first meal in Germany here after reading the reviews online. There was no wait when we came, but we were seated outside because we didn't have reservations. Our server was very sweet, but the service was quite slow from outside. We both ordered the roasted pork knuckle (not cured) with a side of sauerkraut and potato dumplings. The crackling was delicious, but the potato dumplings were not to our tastes, though I'm sure that they were done well otherwise. Overall it was a good meal. The portions are large and filling for a very fair price, and they even have a cheaper menu for smaller appetites. Plus they give you free shots at the end! Pleasant choice for a traditional German meal.

It's been a while since I ate here and I've been delinquent with this review, but I still remember how good it was! We were staying in Prenzlaurberg. After 3 nights of good, but more expensive tourist eats (e.g. Prater Garten), we trekked further afield through quiet suburbs to this little gem, based on Yelp reviews. It's definitely off the beaten path, but well worth the trip. Very comfortable and homey, our family found it warm, unpretentious and grandma's place all the way; a real breath of fresh air. Growing up on Central European food, the Leberflädlesuppe, Goulasch, Schnitzel and Schinkenhax were all to die for. Massive portions with unfussy presentation, great service and beer selection in a quaint and fun setting - all that and the bill was a fraction of what we were paying for dinner closer to the city center. Make the trip!
