Several of my window and sliding screens had started to wear out or had gotten completely torn up after the weather this past winter. Tyler from Mike's Mobile came by and gave a very honest evaluation of what each of my problem screens needed. There was never a pressured upsell, he was clear about the benefits of the mesh options and when the higher priced product was not necessary, and when a mesh replacement was not necessary to fix the issue I was having. Also appreciated that he was friendly and personable while here - definitely a plus for someone you have working inside your home.

All my damaged screens were replaced at a very fair price and both screen doors were also adjusted to run on their tracks much more smoothly than they ever had since I moved into this place.

Quality of the work is very good and wouldn't hesitate to hire them again or recommend to others. Thanks, Tyler!

Had them install a Android Auto-compatible head unit. Let me just say that I like the work they did placing the microphone above the rearview and hiding the cabling. That was the work I didn't want to spend time doing, the quality of the work was very clean, and the price charged very reasonable. The center dash assembly is easily accessible, but credit to Kartunz, all the wires were well organized and clean. (I took the whole thing apart after I got home to look at the work, so thumbs up there.) Would have been a 5-star review if not for one mistake.

As an Android Auto unit, I need an accessible way to plug in my USB cable. I purchased a cable from Amazon that would fit in the 12 volt outlet (as an alternative to drilling a hole somewhere) but the cable I bought didn't work. I brought it along with me to Kartunz as an example of what I wanted, hoping that they might sell one, but made it very clear that the cable I brought did not work and absolutely not to install it. (I mentioned this several times. Mistake #1 on my part may just have been not taking the cable out of the car so there would be no confusion at all) As the three-star review suggests, they installed the malfunctioning cable. When I picked up the car, my second mistake was probably that I should have just told them to fix it right then, but knowing what an easy fix it should have been, I let it go. So, when I got home to find that instead of using the existing and included clips and screws to secure everything in place, they used super glue to attach the not-working cable into the outlet, including a plastic ring that was part of the original 12v outlet assembly that normally clips into place but is now attached permanently (and 180 degrees off) to the shift boot bezel. I made a second trip to them for help removing the cable (acetone wasn't working), and they got the cable assembly off not but not the plastic ring. Superficially, everything looks fine but it looks awful from the back, may cause issues in the future if I want to use the port for other things and can't remove the ring, and I'm hoping I can still get a refund on the bad cable when it's covered in dried glue, acetone stains, and scuff marks.

The owner and staff has been friendly and seemed to be pretty understanding every time, but as silly and as stupid a little thing this is, it's just annoying that it's even an issue in the first place.

Booked the InterCityHotel because of its close proximity to the Hauptbahnhof. And, even though I ended up driving here, the location was still a huge plus.

First, the hotel is very clean and modern. Rooms were spacious and the large windows kept the room bright but were insulated enough so that the trains weren't too obnoxious. In-room Wi-Fi was reasonably fast at around 3-4Mbit and was only €8/night. The breakfasts in the lobby were basic but otherwise unelaborate German spreads.

What really brings the value is that our hotel stay came with an included bus pass, valid for use during our entire stay. The bus system in Ingolstadt is constantly running and very efficient. Also, with the hotel located at the Hauptbahnhof stop, seemingly every bus going anywhere in the city went through the stop just outside our hotel and every bus seemed headed back towards the Hauptbahnhof. Few things less stressful when visiting a new city than not having to worry too much about getting lost on their public transportation system.

Front desk was especially friendly and helpful. Parking was a bit expensive and there aren't many parking spots available (maybe 5?). If you're not too light a sleeper and the very moderate amounts of noise from the train station aren't too big a deal, the InterCityHotel is a fantastic place to stay.

Visiting Stuttgart for Volksfest and, as a car enthusiast, for a visit to the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

With the exception that the U-Bahn only operates to the Neckarpark station across the street during Volksfest and football matches (the nearest S-Bahn station - also called Neckarpark - is a 25 minute walk away), and then only for limited hours, the location is actually pretty great. You are right next door to the Mercedes-Benz Arena (the main VfB Stuttgart Fan-shop is in the same building as the hotel), a 5 minute walk from the Mercedes-Benz Museum and Home Office. Local access to the train during non-event times involves a 10 minute bus ride to Bad Canstatt/Wilhelmsplatz U-Bahn

The entire area is quiet atfer hours and feels very safe. It does get pretty crazy on weekdays in the mornings and evenings during rush hour traffic in and out of Mercedes-Benz, but it passes pretty quickly. One note is if you are driving to the hotel and plan on parking there, the entrance to the hotel is not particularly clear. If you are headed northeast on Mercedesstraße, there is an unmarked entranceway on the right, between the Hotel and the Mercedes-Benz Arena. Drive up to the gate and press the button for access. There aren't any obvious parking spots after the gate, but the area between the lobby and Porsche Arena is a good place to park and check in before heading into the parking garage.

The rooms themselves are clean, modern, luxurious, and very open. Bathrooms are surprisingly large and the hotel rooms even have a legitimate minifridge (not just a minibar). The televisions in the room have HDMI ports available for outside devices and they offer one of the fastest in-room Wi-Fi services I've ever had in a hotel. It's nowhere near the 155Mbit speed they advertise in the elevators, but I got a solid 10Mbit during my entire trip. Wi-Fi is only €6/night paid and free for eligible HHonors members.

The breakfast spread is also solid and they offer both an American and German-style breakfast spread. Much appreciated are the two coffee machines in the dining area.

If I have anything to criticize (and this is what I'm docking the star for) is that front desk staff here was pretty hit or miss. They weren't rude, by any means, but compared to other hotels I've visited in Germany and across Europe, they seemed to be pretty aloof and not particularly motivated to welcome us. When we asked for assistance with figuring out the local train station (I wasn't aware that the Neckarpark train didn't run regularly when I booked the hotel), the solution appeared to be to just point us to the general location where the bus stop is and problem resolved.

I had a trip to San Luis Obispo that was very poorly scheduled for graduation week. As such, hotels in SLO were simply sold out and the nearest authorized hotel would be in Santa Maria. And that's how I found myself at the Fairfield Inn in Santa Maria.

The hotel has a lot going for it. There is plenty of parking. The hotel is very new and it shows everywhere - from the lobby to the rooms. For those of us who are accustomed to seeing Fairfield Inns in pretty poor, rundown condition, this is a nice step up. There is very easy access to Highway 101 (although, protip - Roemer's two lanes heading east will split into left to 101 North, right to 101 South. For whatever reason, drivers on Roemer are jerks and will not let you in if you're in the wrong lane. This was endemic every time.) Also, one of my favorite things - the hotel elevators do not reset and will stay on whichever floor they were on last with the door open. Since there is only an ice machine on every other floor, this was a huge time saver. Oh, and the fresh-baked shortbread cookies at check-in were great.

On the meh side, the hotel is located right up against Roemer on one side and in a pretty industrial part of Santa Maria on the other. This could end up being a noisy stay.

Now, to the negatives. The rooms are on the small side, especially for an American hotel. Like I mentioned earlier, there is only an ice machine on the ground floor and floor 3. The room I stayed in was new but it did have a weird stink to it that only went away after having the AC unit cycle the air for a few hours. Also, and this might be critical for regular travelers - the hotel has locked out the HDMI ports on the in-room TV. I verified this with the front desk, and they admitted that they do not permit outside devices access to the HDMI ports. This was doubly annoying for my stay because the hotel also doesn't offer NBCSN on their channel lineup, so I ended up having to watch Stanley Cup Playoff games on my phone during my stay. Not the same!

There is a small indoor pool with a jacuzzi. There is also a fitness center with a bench, rack of dumbbells, two treadmills, and an elliptical. I didn't take advantage of the pool but the fitness center equipment was all in good condition and the room was empty for most of my stay.

The price of the Fairfield was very cheap - compared to staying in SLO - and the half hour drive there every morning and back every evening was surprisingly not bad. There just isn't much else in Santa Maria to do otherwise that I could find but other than the HDMI issue, I would have no issues coming back to this hotel.
