we were there on a Saturday, 8.30pm. Nice location with very good food (risotto with seafood, ravioli filled with squash); prices are good too (main dishes all under $20). However, the wine ----- we tried out several and all were sub-par (to be polite). Strange thing, because Belli is almost right across from one of the best Brooklyn wine stores (Leon & Son). Can't you just get a few bottles of decent wine from there?

The food was okay, classic French fare. But the service is a disaster. We waited more than 70 min for the main dish-- boeuf bourguignon, which was made well ahead. Then another 69 min wait for the tarte tatin., also prepared well ahead,. The tarts had a crust that was burned black. Oh man

We stumbled over L'Antagoniste by accident. And what a treasure it is. First, the wine list comprised hundreds (!) of wines (all price brackets). Second, the food is perfect French Bistro fare. Cheese soufflé is to die for. Third, the service is super friendly and attentive. ---- What a pearl.

This place was awesome. I'm still trying to find out who the last chef was -- around June/July 2017 (during the last months before they closed down). Does anybody know? Please send an email Karl.storchmann@nyu.edu
