I had a great time staying at the Eldorado Resort Casino!
Now, keep your expectations at reasonable level. The room, while very much standard/lower end in style and amenities and certainly nothing fancy, was clean and not overly used/abused for its age. I had a bit of a leaky faucet issue with the tub/shower, but it was usable and got warm/hot very quickly, so it's all good. The mini fridge was great for leftovers.
The casino is quaint, but connects directly to their sister casino, the Silver Legacy, which is quite a bit more vast and includes a poker room! It seems that even a moderate amount of play at either casino will yield rooms at discounted or comped rates for a future visit, in addition to free money towards (almost) all dining on site.
While a blast can be had at this resort alone, the famous Reno sign is immediately outside the front door for your Instagramming needs, as well as several other casinos, bars, and pawn shops. The location is great for getting the full Reno strip experience!

Customer Experience

Hello Aaron, We know there can be other choices when selecting your destinations and we wish to thank you for choosing to visit our Eldorado property. It is always so gratifying when a guest awards us with five stars. Thank you, The Eldorado Resort Reno at THE ROW
The experience of staying at the Signature at MGM Grand is very much unlike that of any other standard Las Vegas resort/hotel room. The rooms are reminiscent of mini condos, with a living room area, large bathroom with hot tub, and a full kitchenette that even includes a stove top.
Other notables include:
- No onsite casino. However, there is an enclosed walkway that connects directly to the MGM casino.
- No smoking allowed.
- No self parking (FREE valet ONLY): BONUS - NO daily parking fee!!
- Some units have "owners." I'm not quite sure what that means.
While the rooms don't feature the very most recent in modern design and high-end amenities, they're certainly clean and cool enough to impress and satisfy the most discerning of Las Vegas frequenters.
Now that I'm no longer the President of my (former) HOA, I'm happy to be able to publicly praise Affinity without being accused of quid pro quo!
Affinity succeeded at the seemingly insurmountable job of revitalizing my (former) HOA-run community (we were in terrible shape when they took us on). For many years, I worked hand in hand with John from Affinity to negotiate vendor contracts, get and stay on scheduled maintenance, and make our community great again. Always quick to respond, John made us (my board and I) feel as though we were his only client, and respected, fought for, and treated our community as if it were his own. John is a consummate professional whose years of experience give him the confidence and (gently delivered) authority to advise his boards to make the best possible decisions and keep them on track for success.
In my case, the result of Affinity's hard work was a community so desirable, that my property ultimately sold above asking price. My (former) community is very lucky to have John and Affinity on their side and working hard!
As the President of my (former) HOA, it was my duty to hire companies that not only came in at the right price, but also could do a clean, prompt, and thorough job.
Chad Triplett is face and owner of the company. He's easy going, and legitimately wanted us to be as happy as we could with the painting of the wood and stucco of our 41-unit community.
Once we signed the contract, in stepped Guillermo, the lead painter. Guillermo is a consummate professional and a perfectionist with an attention to detail that I did not expect. He led his happy (no exaggeration, they were singing) team of painters through our project swiftly, yet accurately. And if that wasn't enough, Guillermo coordinated with me to come to the property on Saturday morning (8am, sharp) to paint the inside of my door jamb, the fire extinguisher boxes, and tidy up the last bits throughout the community that I pointed out just to make sure that I was 100% satisfied.
Of all the vendors that I hired over my decade long tenure on that HOA board, these guys stuck out as perhaps the best customer service offered above all.
When going on adventures that take me far away, why would I put the wear, tear, and miles on my car when I can rent one from my local Thrifty for a day or two on the cheap??
I've done a lot of car renting in my years for this exact reason, but have had my best experiences to date with this particular Thrifty location. Here's what makes it a no-brainer:
- It's cheap: I usually spend somewhere between $15-$20 per day. Well worth the nominal investment for the piece of mind.
- Quality: The cars are in good to excellent shape.
- They're friendly: The folks who run the front desk could not be friendlier! Except for Michael. Avoid him if you can. He pushes the optional insurance way too hard, to the point of explaining grim scenarios and moping as if I kicked his dog when I decline. Everyone else that I've worked with has been GREAT.
- It's convenient: This location is walking distance from my office!
- Pro tip: While this is technically an "airport location," it's off-site. That means it's easy to access (without going to the actual airport), their rates are cheaper than traditional standalone rental places, and most importantly, they're open until 11pm EVERY DAY!
Whether it's a weekend in Mammoth or Vegas, or just a day in Big Bear, Thrifty Newport Beach is my go-to car rental spot!
