Good location and decent selection. It may be worth considering, though, whether the customer service desk is the best place for unhelpful and unfriendly employees.

The location is nice and looks promising from the outside.
Unfortunately, the staff are rather arrogant and unhelpful. After they said the previous day that they do not take reservations, we were told the following morning that we could not rent a boat because they were all reserved. Go figure.
Fortunately, there are other boat rental places within walking distance (head south along the shore).

This hotel just by the water in Amsterdam-Noord consists of two towers of 14 floors each, and has a total of 438 guest rooms. The property was opened in July 2020.

The Holiday Inn Express can be reached via a (free) pedestrian / bicycle ferry departing from behind Amsterdam Centraal station (line F2 to IJplein); whilst the crossing takes just a few minutes, it's then a 10-15 minute walk from the ferry terminal to the hotel. Alternatively, Amsterdam-Noord is connected to the city centre via the IJ-tunnel for access by car or taxi. The hotel has an underground parking garage, but spaces are limited (and at about 20 Euros per night quite expensive), and need to be reserved in advance.

The area surrounding the hotel does not necessarily feel very safe, so especially when arriving (or returning to the hotel) at night time, a taxi ride may be preferable. Also the ferry does not run between a few minutes to midnight and around 6:30 in the morning - that's just something to keep in mind when spending a night about town.

Even though the hotel is, at the time of writing, quite new, upkeep and maintenance of the rooms is lacking. My room had a few carpet stains that I did not necessarily wish to inspect or diagnose more closely, and there were several large stains on the wall(paper), too.

Whilst the rooms have a decent size, there is very little storage space and neither a closed wardrobe or any other cupboards. There is a small desk and chair in the room, but the combination doesn't allow for comfortable working over longer periods. The bathrooms are on the small side but overall okay. However, it would be helpful if there was a shower door or curtain to keep the bathroom from flooding whenever the shower is in use.

I found the service to be average, and sometimes slightly below. Requesting a high floor (and paying for a 'premium' room) at the time of booking got me a room of the seventh floor (out of fourteen). I found my room reasonably clean, with room for improvement. Also for some reason, housekeeping skipped my room altogether one day - which was annoying as I only realized this when I returned late in the evening. Staff did provide a set of fresh towels on request, but were not overly interested or apologetic.

Overall, this is an okay hotel in a location that has a few drawbacks. I probably will not be staying here again, but if you're looking for accommodation that is not too far from the city centre, you may well consider it worth a try.

This is certainly one of the worst customer experiences I've had - not just with Apple, but with any company.
After first phoning up Apple support to confirm that the store could do same-day replacements of an iPhone battery, I tried to schedule an appointment. This took two weeks.
Arriving at the store at the scheduled time, I then waited for over twenty minutes, only to be told that the phone wouldn't be ready until the following week. Nobody seemed overly concerned when I pointed out that I had specifically been told that the repair would be carried out on the day ... nor when I left the store quite unimpressed.

Unprofessional. I'd strongly recommend choosing a different supplier if you need temporary road signs.
