Sadly, I was very disappointed with this restaurant. That is not to say the food isn't good, just not well advertised/described.

The atmosphere is good and fun, what I would expect from a Guy Fieri "rock & roll BBQ sushi" place: a little loud, good background rock music, his Food Network videos playing on loop in different areas, nice stylized decor. I only had two small issues with it: the tables and the bathroom. The tables are more "rock & roll" joint than restaurant so they are all very high bar-stool like chairs or bench seats. My problem was that, being 5'4" my feet didn't touch the ground or the foot rail/rest so I not only had to feel like a little kid climbing up into my seat (which, not being too terribly short I'm not really used to), but my feet were just dangling all through dinner which got really uncomfortable after awhile. As for the bathrooms, they were nice and clean but te stalls were so small (except for the handicap one of course) that I literally had to straddle or stand on the toilet in order to close the door. Not fun. Also, although it didn't affect me, my husband thought it was really strange that the men's restroom sign was on the usual triangle shaped base, only instead of being solid this base was a view port with iron bars (looking almost like jail bars) that looked straight into the men's restroom! You could see the urinals, and the poor guys using them, right through that portal while walking down the hall to the women's restroom or out the back door. Just very strange....

As for the food, while is was indeed very tasty, it did not match our expectations based on the menu descriptions. My husband got the wasabi-blue cheese got wings (supposed to be the hottest on the menu) to split with his boss. They both though the kitchen had made the wrong ones base on the flavor and heat. I trie one and while they did have a nice flavor and spice, they were not spicy at all and you couldn't taste any wasabi flavoring. Again, they were good, bit just tasted like normal, flavorful hot wings. While I didn't try it, his boss also got one of the supposedly spicy sushi rolls and had to put gobs of wasabi on it because it wasn't spicy at all AND the wasabi itself was more sweet than heat. I got the Cowboy Kicker Burger which was described as being a Cajun-style seasoned beef patty topped with BBQ pulled pork, crispy onion strings, peper jack cheese and jalapeños. It came to the table and I was SO excited! It was bigger than I could put my mouth around and looked delicious. I took a bite and, while it was indeed very decadent and mighty tasty, it had NO spice or heat to it what-so-ever. I eventually pulled off a price of just the burger to see of I could taste any of the Cajun-seasoning and nothing. While the beef was nicely seasoned, there was nothing Cajun about it. So overall yes, it was a great loaded down burger but it was not at all a "Cowboy Kicker"...more just a hungry cowboy.

Amazing 5-star quality restaurant in little 'ol Placerville. This restaurant could be a huge success and fit right into any big city.

In short, everything on the menu is amazing. They have a great, long drink menu with tons of fancy and creative cocktails as well a a lot of great local wines. Try the truffle Mac and cheese, it will change your life. I've wanted to go there to just order a portion of this side. I love that they serve certified Hereford beef, but that's probably just because the cows we have and breed are Herefords. I've always gotten the prime rib and it is always phenomenal. My only (small) complaint is that the horseradish it comes with is too sweet and had no 'bite' to it...I think they just cut it with too much mayo(?).

As for dessert, much of the same: fantastic. They have different takes on creme brûlée every night (had the ginger and it was surprisingly good seeing as how I'm not a huge ginger fan) as well as different ice creams. I have also had their bread pudding a la mode which was delicious, but was definitely a dessert made for splitting. Huge portion!!! My husband and I split it and still took some home (which heated up nicely for a sinful breakfast the next morning).

The waitstaff is amazing as is the atmosphere and decor. We bring all our family here for a gourmet dinner when they are in town visiting and always recommend it to all our friends. FYI, it is owned by the same person as the Heyday Cafe, which is also phenomenal (though we've only been there for lunch).

Casual, tucked away and unassuming, but amazing!! The fish tacos are to die for as is the clam chowder. My husband made a fantastic meal out of the shrimp scampi appetizer (which were 6 HUGE prawns) and a cup of chowder (which was so good he only let me steal one bite). Absolutely comparable to the clam chowder we have gotten in San Francisco. The fish taco platter was more than I could finish and I would go back for those tacos any day of the week.

Great food for a reasonable price. Our waitress was incredibly nice, friendly and helpful, but was not very prompt (to no fault of her own). I guess they recently took over the neighboring restaurant and a good number of their menu items and the night we went they were rolling it all out. So the restaurant was busier than usual with a very slow/backed up bar & kitchen trying to deal with all the new orders.

That being said it was still worth it. My husband and I just say back and relaxed and enjoyed the sunset (we just missed Sea Worlds fireworks show, which is visible from there). We had the fried calamari appetizer that was one of the better that we have had (though the dipping sauce was so good we wished it had come with more). He had the clam chowder and a Caesar salad, which he said were both excellent. The waitress recommended the filet mignon to me as she said in her opinion it was the best thing on the menu (and no, it was not the most expensive). It was fabulous! It came with some seasonable vegetables and had some sort of demi-glaze reduction over the top that was to die for. Excellent crust and perfect medium rare. The waitress was even so kind after we decided to not have dessert to send us back to our room with some complementary hot tea and little finger cookies.

The atmosphere is what it was for being right next to the pool of a "family friendly" hotel (which, by the way, we stayed at and was HORRIBLE). If you want a more up-scale atmosphere I recommend asking for a table inside. We sat outside next to a family of tourists just out of the pool with their two not-so-polite children (whom they did not care at all they were bumping into us walking back and forth and creating a scene because they lost their shoes). I didn't ding any stars for this since it was not the restaurants fault.
